A Lancaster man was killed Saturday morning when a vehicle left the roadway and hit him in front of his Airport Road home.
The man has been identified by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office as Charles "Chuck" Byrdic, 60. He died from his injuries at the scene.
Abel Bordonio, 42, of Lancaster was driving east on Airport Road near Country Club Drive in a 2004 Chevy SUV when he went off of the left side of the road, according to Lance Cpl. Justin Sutherland with S.C. Highway Patrol. Bordonio’s vehicle struck Byrdic in his yard, flipped and struck a tree.
Bordonio was transported by EMS to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for injuries.
Bordonio was charged with driving without a license and the accident is still under investigation, Sutherland said.
