Evans letter: Begging for jobs ain’t easy

-A A +A

Here we go again!
Isn’t it true that Lancaster County Economic Development Corp. President Keith Tunnell and his group of people have brought new business to Lancaster County? According to newspaper coverage, there seem to be a couple of Lancaster County Council members usually up in arms with the Economic Development folks.
As I recall, that Alliance 77 snafu involved groups across the river who were at odds with us. Come on now, does anyone seriously believe counties bordering Interstate 77 are really gonna help sway business to Lancaster?
Sure, it would be nice to have a couple of automotive assembly plants locate here and maybe a Merita Bread bakery, complete with the Lone Ranger and Tonto. But such stuff isn’t likely and I doubt if Mr. Tunnell has a Harry Potter magic  wand up his sleeve.
So, let’s move on.
It’s time to lend support to Mr. Tunnell or clean house. Bear in mind, don’t throw the baby out with the water. Too much time is being devoted to oversight of Economic Development. Let’s get back to the stuff folks understand, like potholes, child abuse and litter.
