Bring an umbrella or put on poncho if you’re going out to vote, because severe thunderstorms could be rolling in Tuesday afternoon, bringing wind and rain to Lancaster County.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, winds with gusts of 50 to 70 mph are possible when the system moves through South Carolina on Tuesday.

No watches or warnings have been issued as of 2 p.m. Monday.

Winds this high would have the potential to take down trees and power lines. Some damage to siding and overhanging roofs is also possible with the strongest storms.

The thunderstorms are associated with a cold front that will move through central South Carolina late afternoon and evening Tuesday.
