Buford Middle rolls to win over Lewisville

The Buford Middle School Jackets rallied from an early 8-0 deficit to post their first win of the season with a 20-8 comeback victory over Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School on Wednesday.
Buford, down 8-0, rallied to slice the lead to 8-6 on Tyler Vespe’s 50-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion try failed.
Buford came back to take the lead for good as quarterback Evan Teague tallied on a three-yard run. Teague’s scoring run was set up when he hit Dalton “Bubba” Catoe on a 25-yard pass.
Teague’s run gave Buford Middle a 12-8 edge after the two-point conversion failed.
Teague and Catoe hooked up for Buford Middle’s third score as he tossed a 35-yard scoring pass.
Tyler Vespe scored on the conversion to give Buford a 20-8 edge.
Buford Middle School coach Greg Caskey saluted a host of players for their effort in the Jackets’ 12-point win.
Caskey said Bubba Catoe, Tucker Sellers and Payton Poston led the BMS defense with sacks. Brady Knight notched his share of tackles.
Caskey said Evan Teague and Tucker Sellers provided key play on both sides of the ball.
“Our guys played well and it was good to get the win,” Caskey said. “Tyler Vespe deserves a lot of credit. He ran hard all day.”
Buford Middle returns to play Thursday when the Jackets visit Lewisville Middle School.
