Men strike two police cars in getaway attempt

By Chris Sardelli

Authorities are searching the vicinity of McIlwain, Hunter Ridge, West Doc Garris and Providence roads with tracking dogs for two black men who were caught breaking into a house in that area about 8:45 a.m. Thursday, May 30.

According to radio traffic from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, the men were in a champagne-colored Honda and have struck at least two patrol cars while attempting to evade deputies. The car was found abandoned on Sedgefield Drive a short time later. One of the two men was seen running through a yard in the Hunter Ridge subdivision, or possibly riding a stolen bicycle.

A command post has been set up in the parking lot of Sherwood Baptist Church, 1030 Darlene Blvd. Check back later for details.
