  • Track car show, opener March 14

     

    Lancaster Super Speedway drivers and staff members are looking at a busy, but fun day when LSS will host its 15th annual car show Saturday, March 14.

    The car show, presented by Swankyville, is noon to 4 p.m. in the track’s grandstand parking lot.

  • Warriors 2-0 in Comporium field

     The Indian Land Warriors are 2-0 in the Comporium Preseason Invitational high school baseball tournament with a 19-4 win over Lancaster on Monday, March 2, at the Andrew Jackson field.

    Indian Land opened the tourney with an 8-5 win over AJ on Saturday, Feb. 28.

    ANDERSON – Lancaster County was close in bringing home a state wrestling champion, but came up a win short.

    Class AAA Upper State champion Lancaster High School faces Class AAA Lower State champion Lakewood High School of Sumter County for the AAA girls state championship at the University of South Carolina’s Colonial Life Arena in Columbia at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7. 

  • Bruins golfers set to host...

     The Lancaster High School boys golf team will open its 2015 golf campaign with the Keenan Classic Invitational, a preseason prep golf tournament, Saturday, March 7 at the Lancaster Golf Club.

    The field includes 12 area high school golf teams competing in the inaugural tournament at the LGC.

  • BHS Jackets diamond hopes high

     The Buford High School Yellow Jackets view the 2015 season as their time to complete unfinished diamond business.

    The Jackets, who finished 14-9 in 2014, saw their season end in the Class AA district playoffs with back-to-back home losses to rival Indian Land.

    The 2014 Andrew Jackson High School baseball season was “un-Volunteer-like” on the diamond as the AJ nine missed out on the postseason.

    Vols’ coach Mike Lucas said his 2015 squad is determined to change that situation this spring.

    An ace trio of Lancaster County prep basketball players – all juniors – have been honored by the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association as all-state selections.

    Lancaster High School junior player Malia Rivers of the top-rated Lady Bruins is a Class AAA all-state girls pick.
