  • Foursome takes close win in...

    A close finish highlighted the Friends of Lancaster Golf captain’s choice golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.

    The winning foursome of Hubert Brown, Mitch Williams, Larry Wolfe and Caleb Brown teamed to shoot a 51.25 to take a narrow win in the 12-team field.

    Brown boosted his team with the close-up on No. 4.

  • Stallions dash by Bruins

    South Pointe handed Lancaster a Region III-AAAA loss, taking a 9-3 win over the Bruins on Wednesday night at LHS’s Doomsday Corner.

    LHS, 5-4 overall, fell to 2-3 in region play with the six-run home loss.

    Lancaster pitcher Anson Taylor, who worked four frames, allowed one earned run.

    Austin Catoe led the Bruins’ offense with two hits, including a triple.

    Logan Phillips and Jamias Shropshire each had a hit.

  • Lady Vols down CHS Eagles in...

    The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers softball team blanked rival Central of Pageland at the CHS field on Wednesday.

    Morgan Hendrix hurled the Lady Vols’ win, allowing CHS only four hits.

    Hendrix also supplied a hit for the winners.

    Kinley Killough paced the AJ offense with two hits.

  • Lady Bruins blank SPHS

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins posted a pair of soccer wins over Region IV-AAAA foe South Pointe on Tuesday night.

    The LHS varsity took a 3-0 win and the jayvee team notched a 3-1 win.

    In the varsity match, Michaela Burton scored twice on break-away goals assisted by Kendra Haddox and Lydia Plyler.

    Kendra Haddox ended the scoring on a wonderful interception and attack of the goal from 16 yards out.

    The 26th annual Crenshaw Oil Company golf tournament is April 28 at the Lancaster Golf Club, with the early bird registration deadline April 3.

    All tournament proceeds benefit the Partners for Youth Scholarship Program.

    Lancaster Super Speedway drew a packed house in the grandstands and pits as drivers and fans came out in full force for the LSS 2017 opening night Saturday.

    Lancaster Super Speedway debuted a new division Saturday night with the Pure Stock V8. Heat race winners Jerry Knight and Cam Stegall brought the field to the green flag.

  • Jackets trip Vols, 6-4

    Buford snapped a two-game losing skid in Region IV-AA baseball play, taking a 6-4 home win over Andrew Jackson on Friday night.

    BHS used a three-run fourth inning to build a 6-2 lead before AJ scored single runs to make it close, but the Jackets held on for the win.

    Dylan Sistare’s bases-clearing double keyed the Jackets’ three-run rally in the fourth to give BHS the runs needed for the victory.

    Sistare had a double, three RBIs and scored a run.

  • Lady Vols down rival Buford, 4-2

    Andrew Jackson snapped a 2-all draw with two runs in the sixth inning to take a 4-2 win over rival Buford at BHS on Friday.

    Morgan Hendrix hurled the win, while BHS ace Sydney Sullivan took the loss.

    Hendrix sparked the Lady Vols with a two-run home run in the AJ sixth.

    Kinsley Adams and Cassidy McKittrick each added a hit for the Lady Vols.

    Morgan Deese, Hunter Allen and Tiffani Patterson each had a hit for the Lady Jackets.
