  • First Lancaster County FCA...

    Nutramax Laboratories will present the first Lancaster County Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Sporting Clay Classic May 12 at Rocky Creek Sporting Clays in Richburg.  Check-in is at 11 a.m., with lunch at noon.

    The Gould Brothers Exhibition is at 1 p.m., with the shoot 2 to 5 p.m. 

  • ILHS’s Ojeda to play at Coker

    INDIAN LAND – The Indian Land Lady Warriors’ volleyball team sports one senior, Samantha Ojeda, and she’s going to continue her education and volleyball career at Coker College.

    Ojeda, who has secured a position as a defensive specialist/libero at the Hartsville college, signed Tuesday afternoon in the ILHS media center to play for the Lady Cobras.

  • No. 7 LHS to host region field

    The Lancaster High School golf team will put its unbeaten links mark on the line Monday when the Bruins host the Region III-AAAA golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club.

    Lancaster, ranked seventh in the latest Class AAAA poll by the SC Golf Coaches,  is 15-0.

    Lancaster swept a tri-match with Westwood High School of Blythewood and Class AAAAA foe Fort Mill to close out regular-season play.

  • Vols booters seek solid finish

    The Andrew Jackson High School boys soccer team, at 4-11-1 on the season, is hopeful for a solid finish to earn a Class AA Upper State playoff berth this spring.

    The Vols, under second-year head coach Alex Tarque, are young with only one senior, first-year player Seth Hinson.

    “We are a young team with a senior, two juniors, and the rest freshman and sophomores,” Tarque said. “On our junior varsity soccer team, we have a freshman and the rest are eighth and seventh graders.

    Save his wedding day, Lancaster golfer Garrett Hammond rates his latest links outing as one of the top events in his life.

    Hammond recently played in the RBC Heritage pro-am at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head.

    Hammond and pro Trey Mullinax teamed for a 57 to finish second in the best-ball tournament.

  • Unbeaten Lady Jackets blank Vols

    The Buford High School Lady Jackets soccer team continued their undefeated streak and posted a program milestone with a 6-0 win over county rival Andrew Jackson High School on Thursday at AJ’s Volunteer Stadium.

    The 15-0 Buford girls, in their third season of soccer, posted their first region crown with the shutout win over the Lady Vols.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson High School star basketball player Alexxus Sowell knew she wanted to go to Savannah State University and her recent visit sealed it in slam dunk fashion.

    The Lancaster County pool, at 106 South Wylie Street, opens for the 2017 season May 27.

    Vicki Robinson is the pool manger.

    Public swimming is Monday-Friday, 3 p.m. to 5, Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30.

  • LSS back in action Saturday

    Lancaster Super Speedway returns to racing Saturday night with a full slate of action.

    Following the track’s Easter break last weekend, the LSS card features the SECA Crate Late Models with some new drivers in the mix Saturday night. These drivers will be preparing for the SECA bonus race next Saturday.

    The action will also feature the Super Stock, SECA Crate Sportsman, Renegade, Pure Stock V8, Vintage and Extreme 4.

  • Bruins cap unbeaten regular...

    The Lancaster High School golf team capped an undefeated regular season with a 15-0 mark after sweeping a tri-match with region foe Westwood and Class AAAAA opponent Fort Mill.

    The Bruins shot a 145 to down Fort Mill, 166 and Westwood, 208. Brady Hinkle and Mason Tucker each carded a 35, while Nick Mangano had a 37. Trey Crenshaw carded a 38.

    Simon Wright carded a 40 and Baylee Evans had a 44. Toby Willis posted a 53.
