    AYNOR – In a series where Andrew Jackson has battled back, the Lady Vols will have to do it one more time to capture a coveted Class AA state softball championship.

    AJ will face Aynor for the Class AA state softball championship at South Florence High School tonight, May 22 at 6:30.

  • Moss wins Rotary race

     

    Charlotte runner Dyllan Moss has had his share of road racing success in Lancaster and on Saturday, May 16, he added another win.

    Moss, 19, ran a 19:57 to capture the win in the Lancaster Rotary charity road race at the 5K race at the University of South Carolina Lancaster.

  • LSS bounty put on Andrew Baker

     

    Bounty time has arrived at Lancaster Super Speedway.

    The bounty is on Cauthen Motors Renegade driver Andrew Baker, and the reason for the bounty is because Andrew Baker has won four straight races in the division, with his latest coming Saturday, May 16.

    Lancaster County athletes, from all four high schools, produced a solid effort in the Class AAA and Class AA state meets Saturday, May 16 at Spring Valley High School in Pontiac.

  • Union halts Lady Bruins title...

     

    UNION – Union County has posted four softball wins over Lancaster this season, with its latest the most significant for the 2015 campaign.

    The Lady Yellow Jackets, 28-2, topped the LHS Lady Bruins, 3-0 Monday, May 18 at the Timken Sports Complex in Union to capture the Class AAA Upper State softball title.

  • Raptors foil Warriors in Class...

     

    LEXINGTON – Academic Magnet High School once again foiled Indian Land High School’s Class AA state championship soccer hopes.

    The top-rated Raptors, for the second straight season, prevailed over the fourth-ranked ILHS Warriors in a 4-1 win at River Bluff High School in Lexington on Saturday, May 16.

    KERSHAW – The determined Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers sent their retiring coach Steve Middleton out a winner at home, and will seek the same for him today as a state champion.

  • Mangum nets Limited Late Model...

     

    Timbo Mangum highlighted Lancaster Super Speedway racing action, taking the checkers in the Limited Late Model Division win Saturday, May 16.

    Mangum and Jonathan Edwards were on the front row, and when the green flag fell, Mangum, Edwards, David Yandle and Billy Lambert battled for the lead entering turn one.

    The late Johnny Hammond, a Lancaster native, was recently honored at Wingate University.

    The mezzanine at the Wingate University football stadium has been named in memory of Hammond.

    Indian Land High School volleyball coach Tal Horton looks for Warriors' senior volleyball player Hayley Williams to make an impact at the next level.
    “She will be missed at ILHS, but we know she will make a name for herself at Ferrum,” Horton said.
    Williams, a three-year member of the IL volleyball team, is headed to the next level after signing with Ferrum College (Ferrum, Va.) in the IL media center on Thursday, April 30.
