      GASTONIA, N.C. – Carolina Speedway will host the 14th annual Carolina Clash Skyler Trull Memorial race March 7-8.

    The Lancaster County Classic high school softball tournament will begin play tonight with pool play games at Andrew Jackson and Buford high schools.

    Play today, which includes three games, opens at 4:45 p.m. at each site.

  • Vols, Warriors post tourney wins

     

    Andrew Jackson and Indian Land opened play in the Comporium Preseason baseball tournament with each posting wins on Saturday, March 1 at the AJ field.

    The Vols took an 11-2 win over Great Falls, while Indian Land posted a 7-4 win over South Pointe of Rock Hill.

    Such was the case on Tuesday, Feb. 25, when the Big Thursday Inc. of Lancaster Scholarship Committee met at the University of South Carolina Lancaster’s Carole Ray Dowling Center for its annual check presentation.

    GREENVILLE – Andrew Jackson, for the large part, has hitched its impressive playoff run to senior guard Dareisha Sowell and she's responded in thoroughbred fashion.

    Sowell, who has scored 119 points in the Lady Volunteers' four-game postseason charge – a 29.7 average over the sterling stretch, triggered the Lady Vols in clinching the Class AA Upper State championship and a coveted bid in the Class AA sate championship.

    GREENVILLE – The No. 5 Newberry Bulldogs are again the top dogs in Class AA Upper State boys basketball.

    The hard-charging Bulldogs, 25-4, captured their third consecutive Class AA Upper State championship with a 78-66 win over Indian Land High School on Saturday, March 1 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville.
