    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson High School junior soccer player Jason Faile was quite active during the Volunteers’ stellar 19-2 season.Faile’s ace play this season was reflected in the Vols’ spring sports awards night in the AJ cafeteria on Monday.Faile, who scored 27 goals including six game winners, tallied his share of honors during the awards.He was named the AJ Athlete of Year in an award presented by the Kershaw News-Era and H&H Chevrolet.Faile, during the AJ soccer awards, earned Class AA all-state and all-region lau

    The Columbus Parker Track Club earned 55 ribbons in its first meet this season held at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte on May 3.The club is coached by Arthur Benjamin and Dorothy Spartt-Ingram, with assistance from Tyger Ingram, a 16-year member of the club.Team parents are Shirley Truesdale and Charlotte Davis who have youngsters competing on the team.The CPTC roster includes 112 members.The coaches would like to thank their donors and their primary funding source, the J.

    Moving cafeteria chairs and tables, moving mats from school to school and maneuvering old weight room equipment before practice – this is what has gone on for the last seven seasons at Indian Land Elementary and Middle schools as the one of the most successful high school teams in the county, the ILHS wrestling team, scrambles to find a place in which to practice.

    This team, with season records like 17-7, 17-5, and 20-5 the last three years, has broken win records and consistently dominated the competition in the area.

    Pineville Post 337 played the spoiler twice on Wednesday night in American Legion baseball.The Pineville senior team rolled to a 16-3 win over Lancaster at Harvey Eggleton Field in the P-31 home opener.The Lancaster Post 31 Legion junior team also fell to Pineville, which took a 12-9 home win over the P-31 team.In the senior game at Lancaster, Pineville scored at least one run in every inning but one on the way to the 13-run win.Lancaster used three pitchers in the game as Jordan Workman, Evan Byrd and Tyler Vaughn each worked the mound.

    In one of the most exciting finishes in the 10-year history of the annual Lancaster Children’s Home Endowment golf tournament, former club champion Phillip Knezevich and his partner Steve Hoke captured the  title.Knezevich, a former Lancaster High golf standout who is also a top golfer at the University of South Carolina at Lancaster, teamed with Hoke to shoot a two-day total of 132,Knezevich-Hoke posted a 64 on Saturday and shot a 68 on Sunday.The eventual victors had to beat the team of Scott Caskey and Tim Beckham in a four-hole playoff.
