    The popular Vintage Division will return to Lancaster Motor Speedway for the 2018 racing season.

    The Vintage Division had a rough season as far car counts during the 2017 racing season, but the racing action was some of the best on any Saturday night at LMS.

    The Vintage Division is highly popular with the fans, old-school fans, and new school fans.

    The old-school fans love the Vintage Division because it brings back memories from when they were younger, following the race cars they grew up watching.

  • Buford Junior Jackets fall to...

    The Buford Junior Jackets fell to host Chesterfield, 36-31 in junior varsity basketball play Tuesday night.

    The Buford jayvees, with a solid start, opened a 12-6 lead in the first quarter.

    In the second period, Buford turned up the defense and held Chesterfield to four points.

    Buford took a 19-10 lead at the half.

    During the third period, both teams caught fire on offense as Buford took a 29-20 lead into the final period.

    CHESTERFIELD – The Buford High girls led from start to finish to highlight a Region IV-AA hoops split with a 61-50 win over Chesterfield on Tuesday night at CHS.

    The Jackets, in the nightcap, dropped a 60-51 loss to the Rams.

    The Buford Lady Jackets, 10-9, 4-5, opened an early lead and stayed on top to take the 11-point road win.

    BHS took a 19-10 first-period lead and held the upper hand, 32-28 at the half.

  • Lady Bruins win earns LHS split

    FORT MILL – The Lancaster Lady Bruins opened strong, but the LHS boys couldn’t complete the hardwood task in a non-region split at Fort Mill High School on Wednesday night.

    The game, a make-up contest, saw the LHS girls roll to a 45-24 win, but the Bruins dropped a 57-42 loss to Fort Mill in the nightcap.

    The Lancaster girls, 9-7, 2-5, opened an early lead and stayed in control for the 21-point win for the season sweep of the FMHS Lady Yellow Jackets.

    Lancaster took a 49-32 home win over the Fort Mill girls on Dec. 5.

  • Blazers ignite, blaze to wins...

    The Ridge View Blazers, true to their nickname, blazed in the second half in a Region III-AAAA sweep of host Lancaster High School on Tuesday night.

    The Lady Bruins, locked in a tight hardwood battle with the Lady Blazers, dropped a 73-48 loss in the varsity opener.

    In the nightcap, the Bruins, much like the girls, were close at the half before the Blazers ignited for the 74-45 win.

    In the boys game, Lancaster trailed 28-26 at the half, but RVHS stormed in the second half to secure the 29-point win.

  • Lady Vols roll in split with ILHS

    KERSHAW – Another game closer to the Class AA playoffs, the Andrew Jackson Lady Vols scored a 51-point, non-region victory over the Indian Land Lady Warriors, 71-20 on Tuesday night.

    The boys game was much closer, with the Warriors surging in the final minutes for a 55-48 victory over the Volunteers.

    A lack of Lady Warriors defense was evident as the Lady Vols used teamwork and smart play to secure their lopsided win.

  • Sha’Ron Brunson named PlanFIRST...

    GREENVILLE – Sha’Ron Brunson was named the PlanFIRST Player of the Game for the Bob Jones Univeristy Bruins women’s basketball team Friday, Jan. 26.
    Brunson scored 22 points and hauled in six rebounds as the team defeated Toccoa Falls College 75-41.
    Brunson is a senior journalism and mass communication major from Lancaster, where she played for the LHS Lady Bruins.
    PlanFIRST is an asset management and financial services company located in Greenville.

    KERSHAW – The surging Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers drove toward the Class AA Upper State basketball playoffs with another solid win Friday night.
    The No. 7 Lady Vols topped the Cheraw Lady Braves, 44-38 at home for a Region IV-AA split.
    The AJ boys came up 10 points short in their battle with the Braves, falling 67-57.
    The Lady Vols took charge with a two-point lead in the first quarter, 11-9.

  • Bruins win two at home over...

    Lancaster came on late, and it proved timely as the Bruins registered a 51-49 win over York to cap a Region III-AAAA basketball sweep Friday night at LHS.
    The LHS girls opened the twin bill with a 55-46 win over the Lady Cougars.
    Bruins’ junior guard Kemarkio Cloud’s driving layup with 10.8 seconds lifted Lancaster to the win, its third straight in region hoops play.
    “I can’t say enough about Kemarkio’s play,” Bruins coach Ricardo Priester said. “He gave us key leadership at a crucial point.

  • Cyclones top Warriors twice in...

    INDIAN LAND – Visiting Chester took two from Indian Land on Friday night in Region IV-AAA hoops play.
    The Cyclones, in the boys’ game, swept to victory in the second half to complete a sweep of ILHS.
    In the opener, the Lady Warriors’ winless season continued in a 45-29 loss to the Lady Cyclones.
    The nightcap saw Chester charge in the second half for an 83-59 win over the Warriors.
    ILHS bolted to an 18-10 lead after one period and the Warriors were still on top at the break, holding a 35-32 edge.
