  • Small sparks Buford to big win

     

    BUFORD – In a game billed the “Fire Ant Bowl,” it was only fitting a Small player, potent in his play and offensive sting, come up big for a huge Buford High School football win Monday night at Jackets Stadium.

    Buford senior halfback Dalton Small sparked the inspired Jackets, 4-0, to a 28-27 Monday night football win over Lee Central of Bishopville, which came into the game unbeaten and ranked No. 5 in the latest Class AA state media poll.

  • Buford tops No. 5 Stallions

    Unbeaten Buford, 4-0, knocked off the No. 5 Lee Central Stallions, 28-27 at BHS on Monday night.

  • Falcons edge Bruins, 14-7

     

    The game wasn’t a thing of football beauty, but Nation Ford coach Michael Allen was all for the taking.

    He had to be.

    The Falcons, at Lancaster Memorial Stadium on Friday night, were in quest of their first win on the season and they went home victors with a tough 14-7 non-region win.

    “It’s a ‘W,’ ” said Allen after addressing his Falcons’ team.

    All the scoring came in the first half as the Falcons built their seven-point edge.

  • Vols blank Knights, 28-0

     

    KERSHAW – The Andrew Jackson Volunteers opened Region IV-AA play in a big way, rolling to a 28-0 home win over the rival North Central Knights on Friday night.

    The 2-2 Vols, with a strong running game – 283 yards, posted four rushing touchdowns on the way to the shutout win.

    O.J. White placed the first points on the board at 10:46 of the second quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown. Avery Funderburk kicked the extra point to put the Vols up, 7-0.

  • Big-play Rams blast Warriors

     

     

    INDIAN LAND – The Indian Land Warriors were back at home Friday night

    to face a familiar foe, the unbeaten Chesterfield Rams.

    The Warriors and Rams were in the same Class AA region just two years ago. The No. 7 Rams still looked the same, using their speed and Indian Land's mistakes, to bolt to a 20-0 lead seven minutes into the game.

    The Rams used big plays to pull away for a 48-25 win Friday night at the ILHS Reservation.

  • Buford game canceled

     

    Buford High School’s Region IV-AA football game with Lee Central High

    School wasn’t played Saturday, despite attempts to play the contest.

    The game, originally set for Friday, Sept. 15 at Lee Central High in

    Bishopville, was moved to Saturday, Sept. 16 after Lee Central was out

    of school Monday and Tuesday due to the impact of Hurricane Irma.

    The game Saturday, with a noon kickoff, was canceled when game

    officials deemed the field unsafe for play due to a heavy infestation

    Andrew Jackson evened its record at 2-2 on the season, rolling to a 28-0 home win over North Central to open Region IV-AA football play Friday night.
