    The Lancaster Lady Bruins notched their first Region III-AAAA softball win, taking a 12-3 home win over York on Wednesday, March 19 at the LHS softball field.

    Summer Clinton, who worked five innings, faced 22 batters and allowed three runs, three hits, a walk and hit a batter. She fanned two.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson High School girls’ soccer team has started the 2014 campaign with a 4-0 record, including three shutouts, and is looking to continue their success after last season’s 19-4 run and Class AA Upper State playoff berth.

    Second-year Lancaster High School girls soccer coach Ed Humphrey is confident his Lady Bruins’ team can produce more success than his first squad.

    The 2013 team went 7-11, including a 5-9 mark in region play, but began making key strides at the end of last season.

  • Speedway's annual car show...

     

    Lancaster Super Speedway, opening its 60th season of dirt track racing, cranks up the 2014 action Saturday, March 22 with its annual car show and practice at the track.

    The car show, a fan favorite each season, is in the track parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Judging is at noon.

    The Andrew Jackson Volunteers captured the recent Comporium Classic Preseason high school baseball tournament with a 3-0 record.

    The tournament, which was held at Buford and Andrew Jackson high schools, was cut short due to rain and wet playing conditions during the week of March 3-8.

    Lancaster Super Speedway, after some five months of silence, comes to life Saturday, March 22 with the track’s annual car show and practice.

    The LSS car show, which has no admission, will be held in the track parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with judging to begin at noon.

    A pair of Lancaster High School senior basketball stars – center Phoebe Johnson and guard Kyia Hough – will be in the state spotlight in upcoming prep all-star basketball games Saturday, March 22.

    Buford, in impressive fashion, opened Region IV-AA baseball play with a 14-2 win over county rival Andrew Jackson at the Vols’ field on Friday, March 14.

    The Yellow Jackets, 3-3, 1-0, drilled 15 hits on the way to the 12-run road win over the Volunteers in five innings.

  • LHS girls split in matches

     

    The Lancaster High School girls soccer team split a pair of Region III-AAAA matches to launch regular-season play.

    The Lady Bruins, in their home opener, dropped a 4-2 loss to South Pointe at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, March 12.
