Junior Golf Association tournament at the Kershaw Golf Club on Monday.Taylor Banks holds a narrow lead in the overall points with 66 points. Banks and Russ Faile each shot a 71 in the 18-hole tournament.Three golfers shot a 75 to tie for second.The trio included Corey Robinson, Charles Caldwell and Gavin Witherspoon Jr.Trevor Banks, who carded a 76 for third place, is second overall with 61 points.

    Lancaster Post 31 snapped a five-game losing skid, taking a 10-9 League V road win over Rock Hill on Tuesday night.Ross Maiden went 3-5 with two RBIs to aid the win. Josh Eubanks also had three hits, including a double, and drove in four runs. Darius Cherry supplied two hits and two RBIs.Tyler Vaughn had a hit and a RBI as did Justin Hinson.Khoury Hammond, and J.R. Tripp each had a hit.Nick Ferguson worked the final two innings for the win, a scoreless stint.

  • Teamwork's key in win

    The team of Ray Ackerman, Rodney Thomas, Jeff Reynolds and Bobby Fleming captured top honors in the seventh annual Matt Blackwell Foundation golf tournament on Saturday at the Lancaster Golf Club.The winning foursome topped the field with a 47.7.Ackerman said teamwork contributed to the team’s triumph.“We really teamed up well,” Ackerman said. “Seems like each member of our team had a hand in our first-place finish.“Rodney Thomas was clutch on some putts from 10 to 12 feet for us,” Ackerman said.

    Lancaster Post 31 fell to 5-11, 2-8 with an 8-1 League V American Legion baseball loss to Clover on Monday night at Eggleton Field.Clover built a 5-1 lead in the sixth inning and cruised to the seven-run win over Lancaster, which dropped its fifth straight loss.Veteran left-hander Evan Byrd, who worked five innings, took the loss. Tyler Vaughn went three innings and Ross Maiden hurled one frame.The trio combined to allow eight runs, eight hits and six walks.
