    PONTIAC – A cool night like Friday might have suggested early hibernation for your average bear, but the fired-up Lancaster Bruins roared in the first of three straight Midlands trips with a 42-22 win over Spring Valley at Harry Parone Stadium.
    Lancaster, 3-1, produced its “most complete game on both sides of the football,” in taking the 20-point win over the 3-2 Vikings, said LHS coach Bennie McMurray.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson, in a stifling defensive effort, limited St.John’s of Charleston to 65 yards of total offense en route to a 30-6 shellacking of the Islanders in a non-conference game at Volunteer Stadium on Friday night.
    The 3-1 Volunteers used a “lights outs” defense to record their third consecutive win after an opening game loss to Class AAAA rival Lancaster.

    BOONETOWN – Buford got back on track, doing so in workman-like fashion Friday night at Boonetown.
    The 2-2 Yellow Jackets swarmed host North Central, 35-8 with a highly productive first half.
    BHS coach Mike Wells’ Jackets struck on four of five first-half possessions and didn’t have to punt until the final period in posting the impressive 27-point win.
    The Jackets were coming off a 40-6 road loss to Lancaster, but this week it was BHS putting up the points.

    INDIAN LAND – Indian Land High’s high-powered offense rolled on Friday night when the unbeaten Warriors pounded the Panthers of McBee, 64-6 at IL’s Reservation.
    Indian Land, 4-0 and ranked No. 9 in the latest Class AA state football poll, served notice from the early going that the Warriors were clicking, with senior quarterback Rondreas Truesdale racing 63 yards for a touchdown on the game’s second play. Chad Thomas drilled the extra point for a 7-0 IL lead.
