The Columbus Parker Track Club racked up 71 awards in a youth track meet at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The field included 2,000 athletes.
The CPTC earned 11 first-place finishes, 10 seconds, 12 thirds, 17 fourths, 11 fifths and 10 sixth-place showings.
The team is led by coaches Arthur Benjamin, Dorothy Spratt-Ingram and Tyger Ingram. Eugene Wallace, a retired principal from East Meck and E.E. Waddell High in Charlotte, also helps with the team.
Spratt-Ingram said the team, some 108 strong, has its share of talented first-year athletes.
