  • AA’s fall in tourney

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA all-stars saw their postseason hopes end with a pair of losses in the Dixie Youth Baseball Regional tournament at the Ace Basin Sports Complex in Walterboro on Sunday, July 28.
    The Lancaster all-stars, ages 7-8, fell to Fairhope, Ala., 4-0 in their first game on Sunday and then dropped a 4-3 loss to Perry, Ga.
    Lancaster, which went 1-2 in the double-elimination tournament, opened play Saturday with a 10-9 win over Albany, Ga.

  • Rained-out race set for Aug. 3

    Mother Nature again cancelled a race at Lancaster Super Speedway on Saturday, July 27. The rained-out race is rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3, with the Montgomery Towing Super Street Division highlighting the night paying $800 to win.
    The Super Street division is one of the speedway’s most popular divisions. And the $800 purse is sure to bring new drivers going for the big payday.

  • Sowell wins Kershaw Golf Club...

     Andrew Jackson High School standout golfer Logan Sowell shot a 141 to capture the Kershaw Golf Club championship on Saturday, July 20.

    Sowell shot a 72 in the opening round and followed with a 69 to post a two-shot win over Corey Robinson.

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA stars are carrying the banner for the local youth baseball program this week as they participate in the Dixie Youth Baseball AA Regional in Walterboro.

    Logan Sowell capped quite day in the final round of the two-day Roy Small Junior Championship golf tournament on Tuesday, July 23.

    The Roy Small Junior Championship is played in memory of the late Roy Small, a member of the Lancaster Athletic Hall of Fame and an avid supporter of golf junior in his lifetime.

    Lancaster junior golfer Anthony “T” Sutton placed second in the Blade Classic in Greenville on July 16-17.

    The Blade Classic is considered the state’s top junior golf event and is by invitation only.

    Six junior golfers registered their fourth wins of the season to highlight action in the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association tournament at the Kershaw Golf Club on Monday, July 15.

  • Sumter foils 14 stars’ run


    Sumter played the spoiler, knocking the Lancaster all-stars out of the Dixie Boys 14 state tournament at Aiken’s Citizens Park on Thursday, July 25.

    Lancaster, coming off a dramatic 12-10 win over Aiken, was the lone tournament unbeaten, while Sumter had one loss in the double-elimination field.

  • LSS hosts Southeastern Late...


    Lancaster Super Speedway will feature one of the top Late Model touring series in the country as the Southeastern Late Model Series visits the half-mile dirt oval on Saturday, July 27.

    The Southeastern Late Model Series is based out of Georgia and is held for for Limited Late Model cars.
