  • Truesdale triggers IL win

    INDIAN LAND – Indian Land High senior ace Rondreas Truesdale scored six touchdowns to lead the No. 7 Warriors to a 42-33 victory over Andrew Jackson in the opening game of Conference IV-AA play for both teams.

    Truesdale rushed for 246 yards on 32 carries. He ran for five touchdowns and had a key 35-yard pick-six for the Warriors in the pivotal third quarter.

    The fast-starting Volunteers bolted to a 17-0 lead in the first half, beginning with a seven-play, 55-yard drive.

    BLYTHEWOOD – As if football frustration couldn’t get any higher for the snake-bit Lancaster Bruins, it did Friday night.

    A week after falling to Ridge View, 9-6 when a game-ending end zone pass for the win fell off the hands of the intended LHS receiver, the Bruins endured another tough night in a 24-21 double overtime loss to host Blythewood on the same field where LHS dropped the tough three-point loss to RVHS.

    BUFORD – The defending Class AA state football champion Central Eagles visited Buford High with heart-felt concerns for their gridiron opponent Friday night and left with an unassuming 35-0 win over the host Yellow Jackets.

    The Yellow Jackets took the field just 26 hours after the tragic death of fellow classmate and football player Seth Muennich, a freshman member of the Buford High junior varsity football team.

    Muennich died late Thursday afternoon after he was struck by a car in the area not far from Buford’s Jackets Stadium.

    University of South Carolina women’s soccer player Cyndle McGuinness, a freshman out of Gilbert, has been honored as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Player of the Week.

    She is the second Lancers player to earn the honor this fall.
