  • Tigers topple Makos in swim team...

    The Lancaster Tigers stayed unbeaten on the season with a 358-203 win over the Lancaster Makos on Saturday, June 22 at the Lancaster County pool.

  • Motes posts exciting Extreme...

    David  “Pork Chop” Motes captured a photo finish win in the Extreme 4 (FWD) main event at Lancaster Super Speedway on Saturday, June 22.

    The front row was Thomas Whitaker and David Laney. When the green flag fell, Whitaker, Laney, Motes and Jake Fitzgerald battled for the lead.

    Buford High cheer camp
    The Buford High School varsity cheerleaders will hold a cheerleading camp for girls, ages 3 and up, July 22-25 from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. July 22 and awards and performances are at 7 p.m. July 25.
    Doors open for parents at 6:45 p.m.
    Snacks and T-shirts will be provided. Cost is $50. For more information, call (803) 286-7968.

  • BMS honors athletic award winners

    Buford Middle School honored its athletic award winners at the end of the 2012-13 school term.

    “Being a student-athlete requires tons of dedication on the field and the hardwood, but most importantly it requires dedication in the classroom,” BMS teacher and coach Garrett Hammond said. “We’re proud of all of our students for making education their most important priority while participating in various sports. Buford Middle would like to thank all of the parents, volunteers, and students for making this year such a success.”

  • Makos swimmers defeat Camden

    The Lancaster Makos upped their record to 3-2 after a 244-234 home win over Camden on Thursday, June 20.

    The Makos were led by Landon Digh who had four wins. Coulter Jackson, Wesley Montgomery, Maraya Hinton and Grace Scott each had three wins.

    Makenzy Mills, Emmie Grace Johnson, Tamra Tipton, Jaycie Smith and Brooks Digh had two wins each. Hunter Mills, Heath Hunter and Will Jones each notched a win for the Makos. The Makos’ relay won eight firsts in 12 relays.

  • Legion falls in League V play

    Thursday, June 20 wasn’t a good night for the Lancaster Post 31 baseball program.

    For the first time In the 2013 Legion baseball season, both teams dropped games in League V play on the same night.

    The Lancaster P-31 juniors, playing at home, dropped a 21-4 loss to Clover Post 38.

    At the same time in Rock Hill, the Lancaster senior squad fell to Rock Hill Post 34, 4-1.

    The Lancaster senior team was locked in a 1-all draw with Rock Hill until the sixth inning when Post 34 ignited for three runs on the way to the three-run loss.

  • Six repeat winners for junior...

    Six junior golfers repeated as winners in their respective age group during the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association’s second tournament at White Plains Golf Club in Pageland on Monday, June 17.

    The repeat winners included Logan Sowell, Brady Hinkle, Samantha Melton, Emily Cox, Haley Thurmond and David Oliver.

  • Bobby Dukes to receive soccer...

    Irmo High School soccer star Bobby Dukes will be among the state’s 2013 high school spring sports stars to be honored today, Sunday, June 23, at the annual banquet at Seawell’s Restaurant in Columbia.
    Dukes, a former Lancaster High School student, played three seasons of soccer at Irmo High School in the Palmetto State’s Midlands after transferring from LHS.

  • Makos top Kershaw to even record

    The Lancaster Makos evened their summer swim season record at 2-2 after an incomplete meet against Kershaw’s Stingrays on Thursday.

    The two teams were unable to complete the meet due to the weather, but both teams decided to call the meet and keep the score of 113-89.
