    Dorman once again foiled the Lancaster Bruins’ postseason basketball hopes with an 81-62 win over the No. 6 Bruins Tuesday night at the DHS gym.

    The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers improved to 8-0 with a sweep of Danville Community College over the weekend.

  • Returnees key for BHS baseball

    The return of 10 players, including three starters, gives Buford High School baseball coach Eric Funderburk plenty of hope for the 2012 Jackets’ season.
    BHS, 16-6 and the Region IV-AA champion last spring, has a solid group of players back from the team including junior catcher Tripp Wright along with outfielders Jay Chambers  and Kholby Pate, who will also be counted on to pitch.
    Wright, a two-year starter, will handle the BHS hurlers at catcher. Evan “Buck Shot” Flynn, a freshman, will also work at catcher.

    PIEDMONT – When Lancaster High senior guard Alan Robinson stepped to the foul line, he said he knew he had to seize the moment.
    Robinson noted he flashbacked to the Bruins’ home loss to region rival Gaffney last month when he missed a pair of key late free throws in the region overtime loss to the Indians.
    “I didn’t want that to happen again,” Robinson said.
    It didn’t.

    Lancaster and Buford posted wins in the fourth annual Gameday at Doomsday baseball jamboree at the Lancaster High baseball field on Saturday.
    Lancaster topped Lewisville, 12-1 and Buford downed Andrew Jackson, 6-1.
    Scottie Moser, Tripp Wright Kendrick Trapps each had a hit and drove in a run for the Jackets. Tripp Rollings, Sidney Watson and Seth Graves had one hit apiece for AJ.
    In the Bruins’ win, Doopy Cloud and Khoury Phillips each homered for the Bruins.

  • Dorman foils Bruins'...

    Dorman took an early lead and never lost its  edge in taking an 81-62 win over No. 6 Lancaster in the Class AAAA Upper State semifinals on Tuesday night at Dorman High.

    The 25-3 Cavaliers held off several Lancaster runs in an attempt to take the lead, but Dorman kept the upper hand for the 19-point win.

    The Cavs' win sends DHS to the Class AAAA Upper State title game to face Gaffney on Friday night at 8:30 at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.
