    Veteran Lancaster High School fans who recently learned about the new head football coach at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, probably did some wondering unless they were already in the know.
    The Falcons’ new head football coach is Michael Allen, who has a solid Lancaster link. Yes, that’s the same Michael Allen, who as a youngster roamed the sidelines at LHS football games while his dad, Gus Allen, was the head football coach.

    Buford broke open a tight Region IV-AA baseball game, igniting for five runs in the sixth inning on the way to an 8-4 win over county foe Andrew Jackson on Friday night at Buford Park.
    BHS, up 3-1, rallied for the five spot to forge an 8-1 lead on the Vols.
    AJ rallied for three in the top of the seventh, but the Jackets had done too much damage the inning prior to take the win.

    The 2011 edition of the Lancaster High School girls soccer team is one of great senior leadership and high expectations this spring.
    The 5-1 Lady Bruins are led by captains Sarah DeVenny and Morgan Gardner, who prepared for these leadership positions by their experiences shared over the summer in their trip to Panama.
    “There were many valuable lessons learned in regards to personal responsibilities, self-discipline and self belief which has shaped their leadership roles,” LHS coach Bo Sylvia said.

    The 37th annual Universal Martial Arts Championships, held March 12 at the Springdale Recreation Center, continued in the tradition of the tournament.
    The event was hosted by Grandmaster James White of Universal Karate studios of Lancaster and the National Universal Karate Association.
    The event continued its legacy as one of the Southeast’s top Sport Karate tournaments. It has been called the “battle of the best with capacity attendance.”

    Emily Cox, Baylee Evans, Brady Hinkle and Anthony “T” Sutton competed with golfers from around the state in a SCJGA Premiere weekend event.
