    Clover won a showdown of top 15 Class AAAA girls soccer teams, taking a 5-0 win over Lancaster at the CHS field on Friday night.
    The No. 8 Lady Blue Eagles’ win knocked the Lancaster High girls from the unbeaten ranks and gave Clover a sweep of the varsity matches.
    The Clover High  boys posted a 3-1 win over the Bruins at Memorial Stadium on Friday night.
    At Clover, the Lady Blue Eagles forged a 4-0 halftime lead and added a second half goal for the region victory over the No. 13 Lady Bruins.

    Indian Land High boys soccer coach Adam Cole doesn’t mince words when he discusses the Warriors’ hopes for the 2012 season.
    Cole and the Warriors are hoping to land the school’s first-ever state soccer championship this spring.
    A year ago, Indiand Land  came close, finishing as the Class AA Upper State runner-up to Gilbert High School.
    The Warriors finished 20-5 after falling to the GHS Indians.

    Buford first-year varsity soccer coach John Bundy said the Jackets’ 2012 success will likely hinge on the play of the veteran players and the development of the younger players.
    “Our team has a wide range of players, and will rely heavily on their experience in the program from our seniors down to our two freshmen,” said Bundy.
    The BHS co-captains are senior left center mid Tyler Jenkins and senior keeper Matt Ellis, the MVP last season when the Jackets went 6-11 and earned a playoff berth.

    The 13th-ranked University of South Carolina Lancers rolled to a pair of non-region baseball wins, taking two from the Limestone junior varsity in Gaffney on Wednesday.
    The Lancers, 25-4, swept the Junior Saints, 9-3 and 11-2.
    In the six-run win, John McClure, 5-1, was the  winner in four innings of work. He allowed two runs, both earned, three hits, three walks and hit a batter.
