    PAGELAND – Buford ventured to Pageland on Friday night hoping to build off its region-opening win over Andrew Jackson last week.
    The Yellow Jackets, 3-4, 1-1, knew the challenge against the eighth-ranked Eagles would be tough.
    “Central is never easy, and year-in and year-out, they are one of the best in Class AA football,” BHS coach Mike Wells said. “This year is no exception.”
    Buford started strong.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson essentially spotted Cheraw two first-quarter touchdowns that proved to be the difference in the Braves’ 32-20 Conference IV-AA victory over the Volunteers at Kershaw on Friday night.
    Cheraw, paced by Justin Chapman’s three first-half rushing touchdowns, jumped to a 25-7 halftime lead. The Braves started quickly when Dejahan Campbell returned the opening kickoff 94 yards to the AJ three.

    YORK – The 2012 York Cougars’ homecoming was happy with a 49-6 Region III-AAAA win over Lancaster on Friday night.
    The Cougars’ 43-point win turned in a key first-half sequence.
    Lancaster, down 14-6 after spotting York a 14-0 lead, appeared to close the gap as LHS senior running back Terrell Rivers dashed 36 yards for a touchdown.
    Rivers’ scoring run was nullified by a 15-yard penalty to the LHS 49.
