  • Lady Bruins’ Rivers to play at J...

    Lancaster High School girls basketball coach Ronnie Robinson said he expects Lady Bruins’ hoops star Malia Rivers to transition well to college play.

    Robinson said Rivers did the same at LHS after transferring from Class AA school Central High of Pageland two years ago.

    “The difference for Malia is that she came in and accepted her role and did what she needed to contribute, but did so in making a big impact,”

    The Buford High girls soccer team improved to 11-9 on the season with a 9-0 road win over Lewisville on Wednesday in Richburg.
    Victoria Hinson led BHS with three goals and Samantha Broome added two goals. Emma Larson, Jessica Williams, Alexus Bryson and Cassie Bailey each scored one goal for the Lady Jackets.
    Tory Knight posted her seventh shutout of the season in goal.
    The Buford High Lady Jackets soccer team improved to 10-9 on the season, taking a 4-0 win over York Prep on Tuesday night in the final regular season home match.

  • Volunteers golfers tie mark in...

    The 32-1 Andrew Jackson High golf team saved its best for last.
    The Volunteers, in their final home golf match on the 2016 regular season and AJ golf senior night, shot a 142 to tie the school record golf team score on Wednesday at the Kershaw Golf Club.
    The Sowell brothers – senior Logan and sophomore Mason – teamed to lead the AJ effort in wins over North Central and Lugoff-Elgin.
    Logan Sowell shot a four-under 32 and Mason Sowell posted a three-under 33 over nine holes. Each had four birdies to lead the AJ golfers.

  • Bolt sparks Warriors in win over...

    Indian Land, the fourth seed out of Region IV-AA, opened the Class AA Upper State baseball playoffs, blanking top-seeded Pelion, 6-0 at the PHS field on Wednesday.
    The game was slated for Thursday, but moved ahead with the threat of rain.
    IL’s Nolan Bolt hurled the shutout, notching six strikeouts and allowed two hits.
    Indian Land broke on top with two runs in the first inning on a Daniel Gueldner double and an error.
    Reed Lilly, who had two hits, also had a first-inning single.

  • Bruins’ twin soccer titles

    The Lancaster High School girls’ soccer team will save the date – April 26, 2016 – as a blue-and-gold letter day in the Lady Bruins booters’ annals.
    The determined LHS girls soccer squad captured its first-ever region soccer championship with a decisive 6-0 Region III-AAA win over South Pointe High at the SPHS field in Rock Hill on Tuesday night.

  • Bruins' twin soccer titles

    The Lancaster Bruins captured the Region III-AAA soccer championship in exciting fashion, taking a 4-3 win over South Pointe on penalty kicks.
    Regulation ended at three-all, and the LHS players to score on penalty kicks were Zeke Williams, Jonathan Monsalvo, Trevor Latham, Corey Lucas and freshman Christian Diaz.
    With LHS up 5-4 in penalty kicks, Ben Rivers made a clutch stop on SPHS’s fifth penalty kick to give the Bruins the title-clinching win.

  • Lady Vols, Warriors tops in...

    The Andrew Jackson girls and Indian Land boys each captured Region IV-AA track titles at the region meet at North Central High School on Tuesday.
    The AJ girls, with their second straight region title, had 141 points, followed by Indian Land 135, Cheraw 92, Buford 64, Central 42, North Central 33 and Chesterfield 32.
    The IL boys prevailed with 206 points, with Central second at 124. North Central 54, Chesterfield 51, Cheraw 50, Buford 45 and AJ 17 followed.

  • LSS hosts M&M Garage Extreme...

    Lancaster Super Speedway will host the M&M Garage Extreme 4 Double Duels Showdown on Saturday night.
    The M&M Garage Extreme 4 Division averages one of the largest car counts at Lancaster Super Speedway each week. The division features exciting racing with rubbing, beating and sometimes two- or three-wide finishes.
    Fans can expect some of the Carolinas top Extreme 4 drivers to be here for the Double Duels.

  • County trio in prep softball...

    Three Lancaster County prep softball teams are heading to the playoffs.
    Buford, the Region IV-AA champion with a 12-0 record, will be at home Thursday when the Lady Jackets will face an undetermined foe out of Region III, which was deciding its final finishes with region play-off tiebreakers this week.
    BHS is slated to open the playoffs at 6 p.m. Thursday at home.
    Buford, 16-4, dropped its regular-season finale, falling to Parkwood of Union County, N.C., 8-1 on Monday.

  • Vols golfers now 30-1

    The Andrew Jackson High golf team moved its links mark to 30-1 on the season, defeating Midlands teams Blythewood and Westwood at the Columbia Country Club on Monday.
    The Volunteers shot a 151 to top Blythewood’s 178 and a 190 for Westwood High School.
    AJ senior ace Logan Sowell shot a one-under 35 to earn medalist honors.
    Emily Cox carded a 36.
    Chandler Norville, Dakota Roberts and Mason Sowell each posted a 40.
    Caleb Brown finished with a 42.
