  • LSS hosts six divisions of...

    Lancaster Super Speedway will host six divisions of racing action Saturday, May 11.
    Josh Langley and Marty Spittle will have to start in the rear of the field after winning three straight races in their respected divisions.
    Langley will have to start in the rear of the field in a stout Pure Street Division, and Spittle will have to start in the rear of the field in a very competitive Vintage Division.

  • BHS softball bids to stay alive...

    Buford, seeking to stay alive in the Class AA Upper State softball playoffs, hit the road Tuesday night to face Pendleton in an elimination game.
    The Lady Jackets were slated to face Pendleton on Monday, but heavy rain washed out the game and it was reset for Tuesday.
    Pendleton fell to Crescent, 12-3 in the opening round of the Class AA Upper State playoffs on Saturday, May 4.
    Crescent then defeated Chesterfield, 10-0 in five innings on Monday, May 6.
    Chesterfield will host the winner of the Buford vs. Pendleton game on Wednesday, May 8.

  • Lady Warriors, Vols post opening...

    County foes Indian Land and Andrew Jackson will battle in the second round of the girls Class AA Upper State soccer playoffs tonight at IL’s Reservation.
    Indian Land and Andrew Jackson each posted solid shutout wins in opening round play Monday, May 6.
    Andrew Jackson, 15-3, blanked Mid Carolina of Prosperity, 2-0 at home, and host Indian Land rolled to an 8-0 victory over the Governors School.
    Taylor Blackmon scored both the Lady Vols’ goals, the first coming in the opening half on a direct kick.

  • Brunson signs with Bob Jones

    Sha’Ron Brunson is taking her game to the next level, but she will still be playing for the Bruins.
    Brunson, a three-year starter for the Lancaster High Lady Bruins, is taking her game to Bob Jones University in Greenville, which is also known as the Bruins.
    “That’s pretty cool,” Brunson said. “We get to keep the same name.”
    But Brunson’s decision to join the BJU Bruins was more than a name.

  • Vols to battle Rams again

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson will be battling a familiar foe in its hopes of staying in the race for the Class AA Upper State championship series.
    The 17-12 Volunteers, after a tough 5-4 loss to Chesnee, will be at home Wednesday, May 8 to face Chesterfield High School in an elimination game at 6 p.m.
    The Vols, who split a pair of regular-season region games with the CHS Rams, will face Chesterfield, which fell to AJ, 2-0 in the opening game of the double-elimination Class AA Upstate championship series.

  • Lancers down Fire Ants in Region...

    The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers stayed alive in the Region X baseball tournament, taking a 7-1 win over the USC Sumter Fire Ants on Tuesday, May 7 in Burlington, N.C.
    Wade Arduini was the winning hurler, working 8.1 innings, allowing seven hits and three walks. He fanned five and allowed a run.
    Logan Segee worked two-thirds of an inning in scoreless relief.

  • Langley’s win streak continues...

    Pure Street Division driver Josh Langley captured his third win in a row Saturday, May 4 at Lancaster Super Speedway.
    Langley was on the front row with Matthew Cauthen. When the green flag dropped, it was Langley, Cauthen, Jesse Carson and Steve Hinson roaring into turn one battling for the lead.
    Exiting turn two, the Langley Rocket Ship took command and never looked back for his seventh win this season.

  • Davis leaves Lions to guide...

    RICHBURG – Larry Davis achieved one goal in March, now he’s leaving to pursue another one.
    Davis, who rebuilt the Lewisville boys basketball team and guided it to its first state title in 37 years, announced on Monday, May 1 he was leaving the Lions to become the new head coach at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill.
    As the former prep and college standout raised the fortunes of Lewisville’s program, his own star began to rise.

  • Vols golfers cap unbeaten region...

    The Andrew Jackson Golf team capped regular-season play with an undefeated region season with wins over Buford and Indian Land at the Lancaster Golf Club on Thursday, May 2.
    AJ, 19-4, 17-0, shot a 168, while IL had a 173 and Buford finished with a 175.
    Buford High’s Garrett Crenshaw was match medalist with an even par round of 36.
    Logan Sowell led AJ with a 37. Dylan Robinson carded a 43 and Caleb Brown and Chandler Norville each had a 44. Tyler Bowers and Emily Cox each had a 46.

  • Lady Bruins blank Cats in region...

    The Lancaster High School girls soccer team highlighted LHS senior night with a 2-0 win over Rock Hill at Memorial Stadium on Thursday, May 2.
    Lancaster forged a 1-0 halftime lead and added a second goal in the final half to notch a sweep of the Lady Bearcats this spring.
    The LHS girls defeated Rock Hill, 3-2 on Tuesday, April 23 at  District Three Stadium.
    Reagan Latham scored off an assist from Frances Whitesides for the winning goal in the closing seconds.
