    RICHBURG – Four Lancaster County high school football players were honored for their week three play at the weekly meeting of the Tri-County Football Coaches Association on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

    Andrew Jackson’s Mason Kirkley and Heath Gandee were saluted for their play in the Volunteers’ 20-14 win over McBee on Friday, Sept. 13 at AJ.

  • Lady Vols rally to down Lady...

     

    Andrew Jackson captured a tough comeback volleyball win over Class AAAA foe Lancaster High School in the Bruins’ gym on Monday, Sept. 16.

    The Lady Vols fell in the first match, 26-24, but rallied to win – 25-22, 25-21 and 25-22.

    Lancaster returns home, hoping to find the same success it has experienced on the road in county prep football play this Friday night.

    The Bruins, coming off a 19-7 victory over Class AA’s fourth-ranked Central Eagles, will host Blythewood in a 7:30 p.m. clash.

    CHARLOTTE – The Buford Yellow Jackets took to the road for the first time this season as they faced the Charlotte Country Day Buccaneers on Thursday, Sept. 12.

    The game was the first-ever meeting between the two schools, and one the Jackets would like to forget.

    RICHBURG – The comeback-minded Indian Land Warriors, in heart-breaking fashion, fell to the Lewisville Lions, 41-34 in triple overtime on Friday, Sept. 13.

    The Warriors swept away a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit, forcing overtime, but came up a touchdown shy of a victory.

  • Whitley keys Vols to win over...

     

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson snapped a 14-14 tie with quarterback Kolby Whitley’s 20-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to defeat pesky McBee, 20-14 in a non-conference tilt at Volunteer Stadium on Friday, Sept. 13.
