    Three county athletes were recognized for their play in week 11 at the weekly meeting of the Tri-County Football Coaches Association on Tuesday.
    Indian Land senior running back Trey Eaves  along with Andrew Jackson’s William Cunningham and Tyler Denkins were saluted for their solid play.
    Eaves earned the Division II offensive player of the week after rushing for 51 yards in 12 carries in IL’s 21-0 playoff  loss to Liberty.

    The Buford High School athletic schedule is between seasons, but there’s plenty for Jackets’ fans to cheer about.
    The Buford varsity cheerleaders, a young squad which sports only three seniors, is headed to the Class AA state cheer competition Saturday.
    The Jackets’ cheer squad, a 29-member group led by 18-year veteran coach Julie Thompson, qualified for the 12-team state field on Wednesday at the Upper State competition at Dorman High School in Spartanburg.

    Alexandria McCain’s scholarship signing to play golf at Converse College was a historic athletic moment Thursday afternoon in the Lancaster High School conference room.
    McCain, a member of the LHS Lady Bruins’ golf team out of Indian Land High School, became the first LHS girls golf signee since the program was started to field a full team four years ago.
    McCain also became the first signee for the Converse program which is staring a program.

  • Gators halt Bruins’ hopes

    GOOSE CREEK – The Goose Creek Gators, with a powerful rushing attack, snapped the Lancaster Bruins’ playoff hopes with a 49-12 win on Friday night at GCHS’s John Fulmer Field.
    The Gators, 11-1, racked up 402 rushing yards and broke from a 7-6 lead with 42 straight points en route to the Class AAAA Division II first-round playoff win.
    The 37-point win advances No. 3 Goose Creek, the top seed in the Class AAAA Division II Upper Bracket, to face Northwestern.

    The Lancaster B-team football squad capped its season with a 22-0 win over Clover B-team on Thursday night at Clover High School.

    Lancaster led 8-0 at the half and added two second-half scores.
