The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-stars stepped “fourth” to take the 2008 state championship Friday afternoon.The AAA all-stars, ages 9-10, used a crucial six-run, fourth-inning rally to defeat tournament host Hartsville 7-4 at Byerly Park to take the state championship and a bid to the Dixie Youth AAA World Series in LaGrange, Ga.“I just can’t say enough about the determination of these players,” said Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-star manager Mike Lucas.

The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-stars and Dixie Boys juniors moved into the state championship round in their respective tournaments on Thursday night.The AAA stars, ages 9-10, rallied for a 10-3 win over Lexington to stay unbeaten in the double-elimination state tournament in Hartsville.The Dixie Boys juniors, ages 13, defeated Sumter 10-3 in an elimination game to leave three teams alive in the state tournament.

Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw will host the 24 hours of LeMons Saturday and Sunday.The 24 hours of LeMons is a race of cars valued at $500 or less.The race will run on the CMP’s short course, which is a mile course.“We think it will be entertaining,” said Carolina Motorsports Park track manager Brian Smith. “Each race car has a different theme and each is very interesting.“We want to try and boost spectators’ interest in the track and we feel this event will be one to see.
