  • Lancers win one of four at...

     

       

    The University of South Carolina Lancers’ baseball team dropped to 5-11 overall, 1-3 in region play with a pair of losses to Guilford Tech on Sunday, March 10.

  • Speedway's car show Saturday

    Lancaster Super Speedway will host its annaul car show, 2012 points award banquet and practice this Saturday at the race track.

    The day opens with arrival and car show registration from 9 to 9:45 a.m. The car show will begin at 10 a.m. and end at noon.

  • Junior Lady Vols win classic

    The Andrew Jackson Junior Lady Volunteers softball team captured the junior varsity division championship in the Lancaster County Classic Preseason Softball tournament at Springdale Park last weekend, March 1-2.
    The Junior Lady Vols went 5-0 in the tourney, capped by a 4-0 victory over the Buford Junior Lady Jackets in the title game. The AJ Junior Lady Vols opened play with a 2-2 tie with Lancaster and then rolled – 12-0 over Northwestern, 6-2 over Fort Mill, 9-3 over the Andrew Jackson B-team and 4-0 over the BHS Junior Lady Jackets.

  • Lady Bruins hoping to build on...

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins, much like they finished last spring, are off to a fast start and hope to keep shining on the diamond this season.

    The LHS girls, led by third-year head softball coach Kim Perry, captured a district championship and advanced to the Class AAAA Upper State title series last year when they finished 16-14.

    This season, the Lady Bruins are off to a roaring start with a 2-0 record with wins over Region III-AAAA foes Nation Ford and Northwestern.

  • AJ Vols top LHS Bruins, 3-2

    Third-ranked Andrew Jackson defeated county rival Lancaster for the second time in a week, taking a 3-2 baseball win over the Bruins on Thursday, March 7 at the AJ baseball field.
    AJ senior hurler Tripp Rollings, who worked six frames, was the winner, posting eight strikeouts. Rollings allowed two runs, one earned run, two hits, a walk and hit a batter.
    Austin Wrape, who hurled an inning for the save, allowed no runs and one hit.
    Seth Graves’ RBI-hit scored Kipp Rollings with the winning run.

  • Belton signs to play at Newberry

    Caleb Belton made the most of his lone season with the Lancaster High School football team.

    Belton, who transferred to LHS from Region III-AAAA rival Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, made his play in the Bruins’ secondary and on LHS special teams last season count.

    Belton, with his solid play, is bound for the next level to play for the Newberry College Wolves after signing with NC on Thursday, March 7 in the LHS media center.

  • IL Warriors three-peat

    INDIAN LAND – The Indian Land Warriors soccer team made it three in a row and made it look easy.

    The IL soccer team captured the sixth annual Red Rose Classic championship soccer tournament for the third straight season, going 2-0 in the one-day tournament at Warrior Stadium on Saturday, March 2.

    KERSHAW – The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers saw a great 2012 season come to a close a little shy of its goal last season when they were eliminated by 2012 Class AA state softball champion Palmetto.

  • Cyclones edge BHS Jackets, 2-0

     

       

    Chester tallied two first inning runs and made them stand in a 2-0 win over Class AA foe Buford at Buford Park on Wednesday, March 6.
