  • Fort Mill rallies for title

    BUFORD – It was closer, but Fort Mill again prevailed over Lancaster to capture the championship in the third annual Jackets Invitational Preseason basketball tournament.
    Fort Mill, which defeated Lancaster 73-61 for the 2009 crown, captured a thrilling comeback win over the Bruins to notch the title.
    Fort Mill’s Jaquan Dupree converted a three-point with 4.6 seconds left for Fort Mill’s only lead in the game, but it proved enough to give the Yellow Jackets a 64-63 win over the Bruins.

  • Region IV-AA honors BHS players

    BUFORD – Six Buford High School standout football players have been honored by Conference IV-AA.
    The Jackets players are the team’s selections to the 2010 all-region squad as chosen by the conference coaches.
    Buford, 3-7, had one senior selection as veteran defensive back Seth Chapman was named to the all-region team.
    Chapman notched 64 tackles, with two tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions and six batted down passes this season.

  • Bruins net title game bid

     

    Lancaster earned a bid to the Jackets Invitational Preseason tournament championship game with a 77-51 win over tourney host Buford on Monday night.

    The Bruins’ 26-point win moved LHS to a rematch of the 2009 tournament title game with Fort Mill.

    Lancaster County will send three teams to the S.C. Athletic Programs state tournament in Rock Hill on Dec. 4 after the teams swept to Central District titles at the Melvin L. Steele Soccer Complex on Saturday.

    Seven Andrew Jackson High School players have been selected to the Conference IV-AA football team for the 2010 season.

    The Lancaster Bruins solid finish and high hopes for the upcoming high school basketball season have earned the LHS boys a No. 5 ranking in the Class AAAA preseason poll.

    The poll, conducted by the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association, was released earlier this week.

    The Rock Hill Y all-stars halted the postseason football hopes of the Lancaster County Parks and Recreation North small fry  all-stars Thursday night at Rock Hill’s District Three Stadium.

    Host Rock Hill scored a touchdown in each half on the way to the 12-0 win over the Lancaster County North small fry stars.
