    INDIAN LAND – The debut of “The Reservation” was a downer.Class AA’s fifth-ranked Central Eagles were birds of prey as they used a solid effort to blank Indian Land 35-0 in the Warriors’ 2008 home opener.Prior to kickoff, the Catawba Indians, led by Chief Donald Rogers, dedicated the IL field which was once part of the Catawba’s nearby reservation in neighboring York County.The ceremony was pretty much the highlight for the home team.

    For the second straight year in the annual Rotary golf tournament, the Mark Harris team has posted a narrow win.A year ago, the Harris foursome prevailed in a card playoff with a birdie.This time, Harris teamed Jerry Williams, Gerald McInnis and Jerry Seegars to shoot a 59 for a one-shot win.“A win in this tournament was pretty good work because this was our strongest field in recent memory,” tournament director Evan Scott said.

    The second annual faster pastor race is on tap for Saturday night at Lancaster Motor Speedway.A year ago, the first race featured pastors racing in golf carts, but the second race will have them running in super stock four cars.“We really appreciate the super stock drivers allowing these pastors to use their cars for this special race,” said Jesse Adams, the track chaplin who also is the youth pastor at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church. “They were unselfish in allowing them to use their cars for this race.

    FORT MILL – The only thing wider than the Lancaster High School football players’ victory smiles was the margin of victory Thursday night.The 2-0 Bruins, who haven’t allowed an offensive touchdown this season, rolled to a 41-0 win over Class AAAA foe Fort Mill at the Jackets’ Bob Jones Stadium.Lancaster, 2-0 to open the season for the first time since the 2002 campaign, ignited for 21 first-half points and cruised to the lopsided victory over the Jackets.Fort Mill, 0-2, has been outscored 83-0 in two games.
