    Playoffs and pride are the focal points in week 11 play for Lancaster County high school football teams.
    Buford, Andrew Jackson and Indian Land are looking to the upcoming Class AA Upper State playoffs.
    Lancaster High School, out of the playoff picture in Class AAAA, is playing for pride this week.

    In games this week, Lancaster caps its 2012 season with a Region III-AAAA road game at South Pointe High School of Rock Hill.

    Buford, with a first-round bye in the Class AA Upper State Div. II playoffs as the third seed, is idle this Friday.

  • Lady Volunteers roll on

    KERSHAW – The Andrew Jackson High Lady Volunteers continued their postseason volleyball roll Monday in the AJ gym.

    Region IV-AA foe Chesterfield High School, the runner-up team to the region champion Lady Vols this season, was the latest AJ volleyball playoff victim.

    The Andrew Jackson girls, who haven’t lost a game in their three postseason sweeps, downed the Lady Rams – 25-21, 25-20 and 25-23.

  • Radakovich new Tigers' AD

    CLEMSON – Dan Radakovich, director of athletics at Georgia Tech, was introduced Monday (Oct. 29) as Clemson University’s new AD, concluding a three-month national search that drew more than 30 candidates.

    In announcing the decision, Clemson President James F. Barker described Radakovich as the right person to build on the strong foundation created under the leadership of current AD Terry Don Phillips, who announced his plans to retire in August.

    Dexter Cook sparked the winning team in the annual Rub of the Green golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club on Thursday, Oct. 18.

    Cook teamed with Laura Crawford, Fred Phipps and Jay Rainey to post a 51.2 to capture the win in the 21-team field.
