  • Jackets swarm Bruins in mat rout

    Buford, as it did in its first match with Lancaster, didn’t need a late pin to post a win over the host Bruins.
    The Jackets bolted to a 51-6 lead on the way to a 57-18 win over rival Lancaster in the LHS gym on Tuesday night to sweep the season mat series at 2-0.
    “We’re making strides, getting better, but we’re still young,” BHS coach Garrett Plyler said. “Overall, we wrestled well. We’ve made progress since our last match.”

  • Bruins fall to Falcons, Bearcats

    The Lancaster Bruins had a quick turnaround on the hardwood, but couldn’t reverse the results.
    A night after dropping two at Rock Hill, the Bruins fell twice at home to Nation Ford of Fort Mill in the final home games of the 2016 portion of the LHS hoops schedule.
    The Lady Bruins, who dipped to 2-5, lost to the Lady Falcons, 46-27 and the NFHS boys held on for a 56-47 win.
    The boys game was tied at the break, 19-all, but the Falcons rallied in the third period to take a 39-31 lead.

  • IL Warriors fall at Parkwood High

    The Indian Land High basketball teams dropped a pair of hoops losses in their road trip to Parkwood High School of Union County, N.C., on Friday night.
    The Warriors, 2-6, dropped a 77-64 loss to the Rebels, while the IL girls fell to the Lady Rebels, 58-43.
    In the boys game, Parkwood took a 23-15 lead after one period and stretched the edge to 47-32 at the half.
    The Rebels held a 63-48 advantage after three periods on the way to the 13-point win.

  • Bruins, Vols divide pair

    Revenge wins highlighted a county hardwood split in the Lancaster High School gym Friday night.
    The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers and the Lancaster boys each finished strong to avenge losses from the week prior.
    The Bruins, who fell to rival AJ, 74-65 on Dec. 2,  ignited in the late stages to take a 67-57 win over the No. 4 Vols.
    The Lady Vols, who dropped a 54-45 loss to the Lancaster girls, turned the tables for an exciting 47-44 comeback win over the Lady Bruins.

  • LHS duo helps North stars to win

    MYRTLE BEACH –  Lancaster High School football stars Ant Foster and Desmond Ricks went out in Grand Strand style Saturday afternoon.
    The Bruins’ ace duo of Foster and Ricks, capping their prep football careers, helped the North stars to a 21-14 win over the South in the 69th annual Touchstone Energy Bowl North-South football game at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.

    The Buford Yellow Jackets swarmed to a stellar finish in taking a sweep of host York Prep with a 79-47 win over the Patriots in Rock Hill on Friday night.
    The Lady Jackets opened the night, notching a 49-40 win over the York Prep girls.
    The Jackets, 1-4, were coming off a tough home loss to Class AAAA foe South Pointe, which closed with a key run to nab the win at Buford High School on Wednesday night.
    This time, the Jackets finished strong to net a solid 79-47 win over the Patriots.

  • Rec stars capture Upstate...

    The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation small fry football all-stars are headed to the state championship game.
    The Lancaster County small fry stars earned a state bid, capturing the Upper State title with a 14-8 win over Western District champion Mauldin on Saturday.
    The Lancaster County small fry stars, in the state title game for the fifth time in the last 14 seasons, face North Charleston for the state title at 2 p.m. Saturday at River Bluff High School in Lexington County. North Charleston defeated Florence to win the Lower State crown.

  • Warriors drop two at Nation Ford

    FORT MILL –  A short bus ride to nearby Nation Ford High School of Fort Mill proved to be a long night for the visiting Indian Land Warriors.
    The host Falcons soared to a pair of non-region basketball wins over the ILHS teams Tuesday night.
    The Lady Falcons notched a 38-24 win and the NFHS boys rolled to a 71-48 victory over the Warriors, who dipped to 2-5 on the season.
    The Falcons, in the nightcap, bolted to a 16-0 lead on the Warriors and stayed in control for the 23-point win.

  • South Pointe’s late surge foils...

    South Pointe used an 8-0 finish to post a 53-45 win over the host Buford Yellow Jackets and a hardwood sweep at BHS on Wednesday night.
    Buford, 0-2, tied the game at 45-all on Tanner Wallace’s bucket with 91 seconds to play, but then the visiting Stallions dashed away with their pivotal 8-0 run.
    “We had a great effort tonight,” BHS boys coach Raheem Waller said. “We need to work on free throws and cut down on our turnovers, but I feel we’re making progress with this team.”

  • Lady Bruins win at FM

    FORT MILL – Lancaster High’s hoops trip to Fort Mill resulted in a split for the Bruins on Wednesday night.
    The Lady Bruins, 3-1, posted their second win over a Class AAAAA team this season, taking a 53-46 victory over the Lady Yellow Jackets. The LHS girls also have a win over Class AAAAA foe Rock Hill High this season.
    The LHS boys dropped a 61-40 loss to the Yellow Jackets.
    In the opener, Lancaster bolted to an early lead and stayed on top for the seven-point win.
