    BUFORD – For a first-year girls soccer team, the Buford Lady Jackets are off to a solid start with their program.

    The BHS girls, in their first season of soccer under coach Bob Bowen, are 1-2, but he’s been pleased with their early strides.

    Blue and gold stars of Lancaster High School winter sports drew the spotlight, with the Class AAA state champion LHS girls basketball team leading the way on Wednesday, March 18 in the school’s auditorium.

  • Speedway cranks season Saturday


    Lancaster Super Speedway, with the forecast of favorable weather Saturday, is looking to open its 2015 dirt track racing season.

    LSS was slated to crank up the 2015 racing campaign last Saturday, but heavy rain Friday into early Saturday morning, halted those plans at the half-mile oval.

    The Buford Lady Yellow Jackets have a solid cast of returnees to build their softball hopes around this spring.

    The Lady Jackets, who won the preseason softball tournament, sport six returnees from the 2014 team which went 19-7.

    The ninth annual Running for Ryan will again get legs in more ways than one.

    The event, set for Saturday, April 11 at the Lancaster High School track, features the county track meet and the chance to provide a greater awareness of KLS – Klein Levin Syndrome.

    Action Saturday will be the speedway’s 61st straight year of racing.

    The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers softball team hopes to have a better ending this season.

    The past four softball seasons have seen the Lady Vols lose in the Class AA Upper State playoffs  to a team that played for the Class AA state title, with three taking home the coveted title trophy.
