  • Sharks down Camden in home meet...

     

    The Lancaster County swim team Sharks upped their record to 2-0, topping Camden, 403-106 on Thursday, June 12 at the Lancaster County Pool.

    Tamra Tipton, Charlie Brooke Henry, Simon Wright and Samuel Page led the Sharks with four wins each.

  • Swimmers start strong

     

    The Lancaster County Sharks swim team opened their 2014 season defeating the Kershaw Stingrays, 270.5-89.5 on Tuesday, June 10 at the Kershaw Pool.

  • Nationals solid in district...

     

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AA National League all-stars rolled to a 26-1 win over Lancaster American to remain as the lone unbeaten team in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 baseball tournament at Ronnie Gandy Field in the Wylie Park Complex on Monday, June 16.

    Lancaster National stars, ages 7-8, were led by Adam Wright, who was 3-4 with two triples.

  • Daddy’s garden produced great...

    Say “the garden” to me or my brothers, Jimbo and Bill, and one thought comes to mind.

    That’s a patch of fertile ground located off West Springs Street across from our old Normandy Road home.

    “The garden” holds some special memories for me, and when I reflect on it, my father, the late Jim Howey, quickly comes to mind. Though he’s been gone some 35 years, I think of him often and especially today, Father’s Day.

  • Warrior Salute tournament June 28

    The Warrior Salute Golf Tournament is set to tee off Saturday, June 28 at the Lancaster Golf Club.

    The tournament, which benefits the Wounded Warrior Project, is an 18-hole captain’s choice tournament which has drawn 32 teams for the event with a shotgun start just after noon.

  • P-31 juniors fall to York

    Prior to the start of the 2014 American Legion League V junior baseball season, Lancaster juniors coach Paul Caskey noted it would be a battle between the Lancaster Post 31 juniors and York Post 66 each time they met.

    Lancaster took the first two games of the Legion junior season, but fell in the third meeting on Thursday, June 12 at York High School.
