  • County quartet set for North-...

    Lancaster County will have its share of  hardwood representation at the annual North-South All-Star basketball games at Lexington High School on March 19.

    A trio of Lancaster High School girls basketball team members – head coach Ronnie Robinson along with ace senior players Malia Rivers and Keyotta Garris – will participate for the North team in the North-South All-Star girls game.

  • LHS Bruins booters blank Jackets

    The Lancaster Bruins’ boys soccer team got on track in a big way, notching a 7-0 win over county foe Buford High School at Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

    The Bruins, 1-2 on the season, forged a 4-0 halftime lead on the way to the home victory.

    Tyler Deese, Alex Quevedo, Zeke Williams, Garrett Watts, Christian Diaz and Jonathan Monsalvo each tallied a goal for the Bruins. Lancaster also was the recipient of an own goal.

    Monsalvo had four assists for the Bruins.

  • Edgewater earns elite links...

    Edgewater Golf Course has recently received notable links accolades.

    Edgewater, located in southern Lancaster County, was recently honored by Golf Advisor Magazine.

    Edgewater, a Bruce Brodsky course built in 2008, was recognized as being the No. 6 course in the country for best value out of 15,000 courses.

  • County trio set for North-South...

    A trio of Lancaster County ace high school wrestlers are set to compete in the annual North-South All-Star wrestling tournament this weekend at North Myrtle Beach High School.
    The three star grapplers include Buford High School senior mat standouts Nick Jones and Scotti Moser along with Indian Land High School’s  Will Van Hoose.
    Each wrestler is coming off a stellar showing in the Class A-AA state wrestling tournament at the Anderson Civic Center in Anderson last weekend.

  • Lady Bruins booters top Buford

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins’ soccer team evened its record at 2-2 with a 5-0 win over county rival Buford at BHS’s Jackets Stadium on Wednesday.
    The Lady Bruins’ Peyton Patterson posted the hat trick with assists from Gracie Scott, Heather McCain and Michaela Burton.
    Burton scored the other two goals on assists from Peyton Patterson and Kayla Bailey.
    The Lancaster defense was led by team captain Kayla Bailey, starters Gracie Scott, Mary DeVenny, Rebekah Sapp, and keeper Lydia Plyler.

  • Buford unbeaten in field

    The Buford Lady Jackets softball team earned the top spot in the Preseason softball tournament at BHS, rolling to an 11-0 win over Lancaster at the Lady Jackets’ field on Wednesday night.
    Buford and Lancaster entered pool play with each at 1-0 following opening round wins.
    Lancaster topped Andrew Jackson and Buford downed Northwestern, 9-2.
    Sydney Sullivan, 2-0, hurled the win, notching 10 strikeouts. She allowed three hits and a walk. Sullivan, in the Lady Jackets’ win over Northwestern, struck out 12 and allowed three hits.

  • Manning likes USC’s chances for...

    The South Carolina Gamecocks will end their 12-year NCAA men’s tournament drought this season.
    I got the certain word from the judge earlier this week.
    Gamecock radio network color analyst, the Honorable Casey Manning, a state circuit judge, was in town for General Sessions Court.
    Judge Manning granted me a court time out and gave his view on the Gamecocks’ postseason hoops hopes.

  • Speedway’s car show, practice...

    Lancaster Super Speedway is gearing to open its 62nd season of racing as the LSS hosts its annual car show March 12.
    The event will also feature a LSS Mud Bog run and an open practice for Speedway drivers.
    All divisions will be featured at the car show.
    The car show is at 10 a.m., with the Mud Bog and then practice at the half-mile dirt oval.
    Racing fans will be able to get an up-close look at the cars which will compete each week at the track. Fans can also meet and talk racing with the drivers and their pit crews.

  • IL girls capture L-E tourney...

    Indian Land posted a second straight 2-0 win over Lugoff-Elgin to win the Lugoff-Elgin Kickoff Classic on Monday night.
    Regan Hunter and Emily Gerdes each scored a goal for the Lady Warriors. Nia Pressley had an assist.
    Indian Land, rated fourth in Class AA girls soccer, outshot the Lady Demons, 21-3.
    Abby Chamberlain had two saves and Emma Thompson added a save in the Lady Warriors’ shutout.
    The Lady Warriors had four straight shutouts in winning the crown.
    Indian Land scored 16 goals in the tournament.

  • Lady Bruins, Jackets win in...

    Host Buford and Lancaster launched play with wins in the Preseason Softball tournament on Monday.
    The Lancaster Lady Bruins posted a 6-2 win over Andrew Jackson.
    Summer Clinton led LHS with a hit, two RBIs and a walk. Alexus Lowery and Ashley Abbott each had a hit, RBI and scored a run
    Gracie Revels and Sydney Cauthen each had a hit and scored a run. DeAsia Fisher drove in two runs.
    Kadaja Cunningham supplied a hit. Ana Watts and Jada Ames each scored a run.
