  • Clash Super Late Model Series...

    Lancaster Super Speedway will host its 2017 season opener with a major event, the  Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series paying $5,000 to win Saturday night.

    The LSS card also features the Super Stock $750, SECA Crate Sportsman $750, Renegade $750 and Extreme 4 $500.

  • Lady Jackets blank Bruins

    The unbeaten Buford High School Lady Jackets upped their soccer record to 5-0 on the season, taking a 4-0 win over Class AAAA rival Lancaster High School at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

    BHS was led by forward Victoria Hinson, who tallied three goals in the Lady Jackets’ shutout win over the Lady Bruins.

    Midfielder Isabella Jones scored a goal. Midfielder Payton Howell and forward Waverly Bundy each had an assist in the Buford win.

  • LHS golfers stay unbeaten

    The Lancaster High School golf team stayed unbeaten on the links season, posting two wins on a cold, blustery day at the Lancaster Golf Club on Wednesday afternoon.

    LHS topped the field with a 164, followed by Andrew Jackson High School’s 196 and Westwood High School’s 224.

    The 5-0 Bruins were led by Trey Crenshaw’s 38 and Brady Hinkle followed with a 39.

    A trio of Lancaster County hoop stars will be competing among the best seniors in the game at two different hardwood venues this weekend.

    Andrew Jackson High Lady Volunteers star Alexxus Sowell will make AJ hoops history as the first AJHS player in the Carolinas Classic All-Star Basketball game at Myrtle Beach’s Socastee High School on Saturday.

    The Carolinas Classic annually features the top senior basketball players in the Carolinas.

  • Lady Vols have new coach,...

    The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers’ softball team sports a new coach, and plenty of veteran players for the 2017 season.

    Coach Wesley Kidd, who built a strong softball program at West Stanley High School (N.C.) where he won a state title in 2013, is the Lady Vols’ new coach.

    Kidd is new to the AJ softball program, but sports a solid cast of returnees this spring, including three all-region players – seniors Kinsley Adams, Cassidy McKittrick and Morgan Hendrix.

  • Bruins fall to York, 7-4

    Lancaster saw a two-game win streak halted with a 7-4 home loss to York at the LHS baseball field on Wednesday.

    Tanton Burns led the Cougars with two hits and two RBIs. Thomas Caldwell supplied two hits and drove in a run.

    Nick Clayton, Drew Carroll and Austin Devinny each had a pair hits in York’s 13-hit attack.

    C.J. Brown led the Bruins with two hits, a stolen base and scored a run.

  • Lady Jackets down Cheraw

    The Buford High School softball team opened Region IV-AA play, taking a 5-0 win over Cheraw High School on Friday.

    BHS senior ace Sydney Sullivan hurled the win, notching 12 strikeouts and a walk.

    Hunter Allen, Emily Taylor and Hannah Boone each had two hits to lead the Buford attack.

    Lexie Sullivan, Morgan Deese, Tiffani Patterson and Kaylee Shelby each had a hit for the BHS girls.

  • Bruins top Vols, 8-4

    Lancaster improved its regular-season baseball record to 2-1 with an 8-4 win over host Andrew Jackson High School on Saturday at the Volunteers’ field.

    The Bruins used 11 hits to key their eight runs in the four-run win over the Vols.

    C.J. Brown led the LHS offense with three hits, including two doubles and a home run. He drove in four runs and scored twice.

    Sergio Vasquez supplied two singles and a RBI. Logan Phillips produced two hits and scored twice.
