  • Jackets booters blank Tigers,...

    The Buford High School boys soccer team posted its second straight home playoff win, taking a 1-0 win over Saluda High School in the second round of the Class AA Upper State playoffs at rain-soaked Jackets Stadium on Thursday night.

    Fourth-seeded BHS, the Region IV-AA champion, scored late in the match to edge the fifth-seeded SHS Tigers.

    Buford opened the playoffs with a 2-0 win over Gray Collegiate Academy of Columbia on Tuesday night.

  • Jackets have to battle

    Buford, en route to the Class AA District VII baseball crown, battled back through the loser’s bracket, and it appears the Jackets will have to do the same in the Class AA Lower State championship series.

    Buford, 12-16-1 on the season, opened the double-elimination Class AA Lower State titles series with a tough 2-1 loss to Latta High School on Thursday night.

  • Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models...

    The Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models return to Lancaster Super Speedway on Saturday night.

    On April 1, the Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models made their LSS debut.

    On that night Ben Watkins dominated the race.

    Watkins will not be here on Saturday night as he will be racing with the World of Outlaws Super Late Model Series.

    So this Saturday, LSS will have a new winner in the Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models Series.

  • Foursome has close victory in...

    The winning foursome took a close win in the 26th annual Crenshaw Oil Company Lancaster County Partners for Youth golf tournament at the Lancaster Golf Club on Friday afternoon.

    Crenshaw Oil Company and Crenshaw Food Stores sponsor the tournament, with proceeds benefitting the Lancaster County Partners for Youth Scholarship Program.

    The tournament featured a captain’s choice format with a maximum 18 handicap for any player.

    The Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models return to Lancaster Super Speedway on Saturday night.

    On April 1, the Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models debuted at LSS where Ben Watkins dominated the race.

    Lancaster High School softball coach Kim Perry was quite a site after the Lady Bruins captured the Class AAAA District III championship on Wednesday night at home.

    Perry, a result of the post-game celebration, was adorned with silly string, glitter and wearing a big smile after the LHS girls topped Midland Valley, 2-1 to win the district and advance to the Class AAAA Upper State championship series.

  • Jackets bag Wolverines, district...

    Buford, with its back to the wall, came out on top to win the Class AA District VII baseball championship with a 4-3 win over Woodland High School at the Wolverines’ field on Tuesday night.

    The Jackets, battling through the losers bracket after a 10-0 road loss to Johnsonville to open the playoffs April 25, rebounded with four straight wins to advance to the Class AA Lower State title series.

    BUFORD – Lady Jackets’ diamond ditto, ditto, ditto.

    The Buford Lady Jackets rolled to the Class AA District IV softball championship in the same way they started their postseason run.

    BHS, the Class AA defending state champion, notched its third straight 10-0 win to advance to the Class AA Upper State title round tonight when Buford faces Region IV-AA rival Andrew Jackson.

    KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson High softball coach Wesley Kidd said the Vols have picked up their hitting, which stands as a key reason they captured the Class AA District III championship on Wednesday.

    The 18-9 Lady Volunteers drilled 11 hits on the way to a 7-1 win over Gray Collegiate Academy at the AJHS softball field.

    Region IV-AA soccer champion Buford High School, rated fifth in the Class AA state poll, advanced in the Class AA Upper State soccer playoffs, taking a 2-0 win over Gray Collegiate on Tuesday night.

    BHS junior midfielder Blaine Gossman scored a first-half goal for a 1-0 halftime lead.

    In the second half, the Jackets struggled to find the target with their shots, until sophomore Jesse Black scored off a corner kick and the Gossman assist.
