  • Warriors fall to Griffins...

    The Indian Land Warriors had a tough night on the hardwood at Fairfield Central High School of Winnsboro on Thursday night.

    The Warriors dropped both ends of the Region IV-AAA hoops doubleheader with the Griffins.

    The games were originally scheduled for Tuesday, but moved to Thursday after Fairfield Central High School officials asked the games to be reset due to illness on the team.

    The Griffins, in the boys game, took a 79-55 win over the Warriors.

  • Edgewater awash with more honors

    Edgewater Golf Club continues to score high in elite golf course ratings.

    Edgewater Golf Club, located in southern Lancaster County on Catawba Ridge Boulevard, is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Bruce Brodsky.

    The par-72 course opened in 2008.

    A year ago, Edgewater earned two notable accolades from Golf Advisor, which rates and ranks golf courses across the United States.

    Buford High School senior 220-pound wrestler Dakota Barton is the Region IV-AA Wrestler of the Year.

    Barton, the defending 220-pound Class A-AA state champion, was selected for the honor during the region wrestling coaches meeting held Thursday night at the Buford Sports Bar, a central location for the region coaches.

  • Coaches pick Pats in ‘good game’

    Lancaster County high school football coaches give the edge to the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LI tonight in Houston.

    The AFC champion Patriots, 14-2, will battle the NFC champion Atlanta Falcons, 11-5, in the NFL championship game, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at NRG Stadium.

    FOX Sports (Charlotte channel 46) will carry the game, with the Patriots a three-point pick to win their fifth Super Bowl title in nine appearances.

    Spencer, who was a LHS swim team member for seven seasons including one as a team manager, said GC offered what she sought in her college future.
