    The Indian Land Warriors were the toast of the Lancaster County prep basketball hardwood for the 2013-14 season.

    The Warriors, who finished 20-5 and the Class AA Upper State runners-up, won the Region IV-AA championship with an unbeaten record for the second straight season.

    The first Lancaster High School alumni basketball game, a fundraiser for the LHS girls and boys basketball programs, is Saturday, April 12 in the Bruins’ gym.

    The event will include three games to begin at 2:30 p.m.

    Buford scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 9-7 baseball win over Indian Land at the Warriors’ field on Wednesday, April 9.

    Jackets’ senior Troy Cunningham highlighted the three-run BHS rally with a RBI-hit to lift the Jackets to the two-run Region IV-AA win.

    The Bruins edged the Vols, 3-2 in a tight match, while the Lady Bruins notched a 4-0 win over the Lady Volunteers.

    Since October of the previous year, I had been schooled on the rudiments of golf by a Navy buddy who had once been on the University of Houston golf team.
