  • Angels, Ponytails stars going to...

    Two Lancaster County Dixie Softball all-star teams are state-bound after winning District 2 championships Wednesday night at Springdale Park.
    The Angels all-stars, ages 9-10, wrapped up the district crown with an 11-1 win over Union County.
    The Angels stars entered play Wednesday unbeaten in tournament play, but dropped a 4-3 loss to Union to force a winner-take-all second game with Union.

  • Lancaster P31 downs Clover, 6-3

    Lancaster Post 31 pushed its League V record to 3-2, taking a 6-3 win over Clover Post 38 at Harvey Eggleton Field on Tuesday night.
    Lancaster, which went 1-2 in the Carolinas Challenge tournament in Asheboro, N.C., over the weekend, was on its game Tuesday night.
    Post 31 built an early 4-0 cushion on the way to the three-run win over Post 38.
    Eric Miles, the Buford High School ace right-hander, worked five innings for the win. He struck out six and allowed two walks, a run and two hits.

    Two Lancaster Dixie Baseball  all-star teams went to bat in the  2016 District 2 Tournament at the York Recreation Complex on Tuesday night. One advanced to the district title game Thursday night, while the other fell in the second round.

    Ozone pounds Gaffney, 17-1
    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball Ozone (12-under) all-stars continued to roll in the 2016 District 2 Tournament at the York Recreation Complex on Tuesday night.

  • Bounty Night at speedway Saturday

    This Saturday night is Bounty Night and Bonus Money at Lancaster Super Speedway.
    Speedway owner Doug McManus put up a $100 bounty on the Bakers (Andrew and Brandy) in the Montgomery Towing Super Stock Division.
    Then two more sponsors stepped up and put up more bounty money on the Bakers. Swankyville and Rocky's Electric have put up $100 each to any driver who can beat the Bakers this Saturday night, for a total bounty of $300.

    USCL sets soccer tryouts
    The University of South Carolina Lancaster has set soccer tryouts for the 2016 women’s and men’s teams.
    The open tryouts are July 15, with the men’s tryouts from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and the women’s tryouts 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • P-31 team in busy week

    Lancaster Post 31 is in a busy week of League V baseball play as it looks to take the league title as it heads to the Legion baseball Upper State playoffs.
    Lancaster, in a rare Sunday game, dropped a 6-5 home loss to Rock Hill Post 34 at Eggleton Field.
    P-31, up 3-0 at one point in the game, saw Rock Hill P-34 rally to take the one-run win.
    Lancaster, 7-3, battled to the wire, scoring two runs in the final frame.
    Brady Horton opened the Lancaster ninth with a hit and Druw Rollings drew a walk to put runners at first and second.

  • AAA stars open strong in...

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball AAA all-stars (ages 10U) are going great guns in the District Two tournament at the Rodman Complex in Richburg.
    The AAA stars are 2-0 after ripping Gaffney, 24-3 and York, 20-0.
    The Lancaster stars routed Gaffney by 21 runs on Monday night at the Rodman Complex.
    Toby Taylor paced the AAA stars with a single, double and a triple and scored two runs.
    Kaden Sapp supplied two hits and a double and tallied a run.

  • Alexus Motes captures first...

    Alexus Motes highlighted racing action at Lancaster Super Speedway, taking her first career win in the M&M Garage Extreme 4 non-winners race Saturday night.
    Motes and the W12 car of Keith Woolford battled for the top spot when the green flag waved. Woolford grabbed the early lead, while Motes gave chase.
    As the laps ticked off, Motes started to run down Woolford.
    Coming to the white flag, Motes was all over Woolford’s back bumper, pushing him down the front straightaway.

  • Ozone stars roll to district...

    The Lancaster Dixie Baseball (12U) Ozone team was victorious in defending its District 2 crown Thursday night at the York Recreation Complex in York.

    The Lancaster Ozone stars, coming off a 17-1 victory over Gaffney on Tuesday night, faced Gaffney in the championship game after Gaffney worked its way into the championship game through the tourney’s loser’s bracket.

  • Juniors post solid scores at...

    The Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association capped first round play – opening three tournaments – with a visit to the Kershaw Golf Club on Monday.

    The older boys golfers posted some solid scores to highlight the action on a hot day on the Kershaw course.

    The boys 13-14 age group had a strong showing, with Caleb Henson shooting a three-under 69 (34-35) to take a one-shot win. Henson, the Buford High ace golfer, notched six birdies and nine pars for the day.
