CHERAW – The Buford High girls basketball team rallied in the second half to take a 47-44 win and earn a Region IV-AA hoops split with host Cheraw High School on Friday, Jan. 30.
The nightcap saw the Braves remain unbeaten in Region IV-AA boys play with a 77-40 win over the Jackets.
CHESTER – Lancaster, with solid play, notched a Region III-AAA basketball sweep at Chester High School on Friday, January 30.
The No. 1 Lady Bruins picked up their play in the second half and rolled to a region win over the CHS girls to open the sweep.
The Indian Land Warriors swept a Region IV-AA road game with Chesterfield on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The IL Lady Warriors rolled to a 43-26 win over the Lady Rams in the varsity opener.
The Buford boys snapped their five-game skid in a big way to complete a Region IV-AA hardwood sweep of North Central on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The Jackets built an early lead and stayed in control for the 56-35 win over the Knights.
The Indian Land High School wrestlers went 2-2 in a pair of recent matches.
IL, in a three-way match at Central of Pageland on Tuesday, Jan. 20, defeated Buford and host Central.
In the win over BHS, the Warriors prevailed, 39-21.
The Lancaster Bruins swept Region III-AAA foe Broome again.
Lancaster, which swept Broome on Jan. 9 in the Bruins Den, went on the road and took two from the host Centurions.
KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson swept Central for the second time this season at AJ on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
AJ, in each game, finished strong to post the hoops sweep.
The undefeated Lancaster Lady Bruins are in their third week as the top team in Class AAA girls basketball.
The Lady Bruins, on the heels of a 55-51 Region III-AAA home win over No. 4 South Pointe High School of Rock Hill on Friday, Jan. 23, are 17-0, 5-0 in league play.
BUFORD – Fall’s finest of Buford High School athletics were in the maroon and gold spotlight at the Jackets annual fall sports awards on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
Buford High fall sports stars in football, volleyball, cross country and cheer were honored in the school’s commons area.
INDIAN LAND – Spartanburg Methodist College, a national power in National Junior College Athletic Association softball, has armed the Pioneers’ team for the future.
Kayla Price, a standout pitcher for the Indian Land Lady Warriors’ softball team, is heading for SMC.
