ROCK HILL – The Lancaster Lady Bruins, since returning from the holiday break, have been earning their hoops props with comeback wins.
The Lancaster Bruins launched Region III-AAAA mat action with a comeback road win over Clover on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
Indian Land opened Region IV-AA basketball play posting a 70-64 win over Cheraw at the IL gym on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
The Braves sliced the IL lead to 64-62 with 30 seconds to play, but the Warriors held on to take the six-point win.
BUFORD – Andrew Jackson opened Conference IV-AA basketball play, posting a hard-earned sweep of county rival Buford at the BHS gym on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
The Lady Vols opened the twin bill with a 45-37 win and the AJ boys completed the sweep with a 61-58 win in the closing seconds.
The first Andrew Jackson High School wrestling team has brought expected “growing pains,” but Vols coach Rob Tomalis remains upbeat.
“Overall, I’ve been optimistic because I feel we have a good base to build on,” Tomalis said.
The Lancaster High School wrestling team had two athletes place in the 34th annual Bearcat Invitational at Rock Hill High School.
The two-day meet was held Friday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 5.
BISHOPVILLE – The Andrew Jackson High School basketball teams opened the new year with a solid sweep of non-region foe Lee Central High of Bishopville on Friday, Jan. 4.
The Buford Yellow Jackets, 4-4, will be looking to have a full squad for the rest of the 2012-13 mat campaign.
