    KERSHAW – Final period flurries fueled host Andrew Jackson to a Region IV-AA basketball sweep of county rival Buford High School on Friday night.
    The Lady Vols ignited late to post a 61-46 win over the Lady Jackets in the opener.
    The nightcap was a tale of two halves as the Vols, facing a 17-point halftime deficit, rallied to notch a 66-49 victory for the league hoops sweep.

  • Gaffney’s charge halts LHS hopes

    GAFFNEY – In a battle of state-ranked teams, Gaffney’s last run was the difference in the Indians’ 72-56 Region III-AAAA win over Lancaster.
    The GHS victory gave the home team a split as the determined Lady Bruins rallied for an exciting 35-34 victory.
    The fast-paced boys game, played before a loud and packed gym, saw Gaffney use a pivotal 10-0 spurt to open the final period to gain control of the game.
    The sixth-ranked Indians, 10-4, 2-0, held a 47-44 lead after three, but they ignited to take control.

  • Fast-starting IL Warriors top Braves for region split

    CHERAW – Indian Land’s overall 5-9 basketball record doesn’t stand out, but the Warriors all-important Region IV-AA mark does.
    The Warriors, in a region road split with Cheraw, pushed their league mark to 2-0 with a 78-68 win over fourth-ranked CHS on Friday night.
    In the opener, the Lady Braves had matters their way in a 57-30 win over the IL girls.
    The boys’ game was a different story as coach Nate Smith’s club cruised to the 10-point region win.
