    MYRTLE BEACH – A pair of Lancaster County prep football stars capped their high school football careers as part of a dominating performance Saturday afternoon at Myrtle Beach’s Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

    Lancaster High School capped a season’s sweep of the rival Andrew Jackson Volunteers on Friday night in the LHS gym.
    The Bruins, in similar fashion for both games, rolled over the Vols.
    The LHS girls cruised to a 59-37 win in the opener and the boys completed the sweep with a 93-46 victory in the nightcap.
    The games were similar in that they were close in the early going before the Bruins got rolling.
    In the boys game, Lancaster took control in a pivotal third-period charge.

  • Lady Jackets push hoops mark to 4-0

    The Buford Lady Jackets extended their unbeaten basketball mark to 4-0 with a road win over North Central in Friday night high school basketball play.
    The Lady Jackets started strong and stayed in control for the 60-40 win, their second over the Lady Knights this season.
    Carley Bailey had the hot hand for the BHS girls, scoring 28 points, 15 in the second half.
    “Carley had the hot hand for us tonight and we kept getting the ball to her,” BHS coach T.J. Armbrust said.

  • Bruins wrestlers roll in win over Knights

    The Lancaster Bruins notched their fourth straight wrestling win with a 49-30 home win over Class A foe North Central High School on Thursday night in the LHS gym.
    The Bruins took the early lead and stayed on top for the decisive victory.
    “We had a good start and we were able to keep the lead,” LHS coach Leon Boulware said.
    Adam Varney, Jordan Hamrick and Chris Stevenson each had a pin for the
    Bruins, who were coming off a home sweep of Buford, Lewisville and Camden Military Academy on Tuesday.

  • Lady Jackets stay unbeaten

    BUFORD – The Buford High School girls basketball continued their solid early-season play, taking a 46-41 win over Great Falls on Tuesday night.

    The Lady Jackets’ five-point win gave BHS a split after the top-rated Red Devils notched an 86-61 win over the Yellow Jackets.

    The comeback-minded Lancaster Bruins highlighted a wrestling sweep, rallying to down county rival Buford High School 42-38 on Tuesday night in the LHS gym.

    Lancaster High’s Sindarius Thornwell converted a three-point play with 23 seconds to play to power Lancaster to a 59-58 comeback win over South Pointe High in Rock Hill on Tuesday night.

  • York tops in Kersey mat tournament

     

       

    York captured seven weight classes to capture the first Mike Kersey Invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday at Indian Land High School.

  • Rallies key Bruins’ sweep

    KERSHAW – Visiting Lancaster used rallies to post a hoops sweep of rival Andrew Jackson on Friday night.

    The Lady Bruins, down 24-18 at the half, picked up the pace to notch a 59-49 comeback win in the opener.

    In the nightcap, the Bruins, down 9-1 early, responded to post an 85-57 win over the Vols.

    AJ, in the boys game, came out blazing behind the play of sharpshooter Dustin Eddins, who led the Vols with 17, including five treys.
