  • Lady Bruins, Lady Vols to host second round playoff games

    Lancaster and Andrew Jackson Jackson softball teams will be in the host role for second round playoff games.

    The LHS girls, rebounding from a 3-0 road loss to Mauldin, will be at home Friday, May 2 to face Dorman in a 6 p.m. elimination game.

    Dorman dropped a 4-2 loss to Easley on Thursday, May 1 in the first round of the Class AAAA Upper State softball playoffs.

    Andrew Jackson, the Region IV-AA regular-season champion, will host the Buford-North Central winner on Saturday, May 3 at 3 p.m.

  • Baseball, softball playoffs set

     

    Buford capped its regular-season baseball play with a home sweep of future playoff opponent North Central on Friday, April 25 at Buford Park.

    The Jackets, 12-7, 6-4, won 7-4, 7-6 for the sweep of the Knights.

    The Lancaster County to Newberry College football connection added a solid maroon and gold link Thursday, April 24 in the Buford High School conference room.

    Yellow Jackets’ football standout Troy Cunningham joined the Wolves, signing with Newberry which is led by a pair of BHS graduates, head coach Todd Knight and defensive coordinator Stephen Flynn.

    The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers blanked Central of Pageland, 9-0 to wrap up the Region IV-AA softball championship on Friday, April 25 in Pageland.

    Lady Vols pitcher Hannah Cobb, 13-3, hurled a four-hitter and struck out nine to notch the win. She walked two.

    AJ, 17-6, 8-2, scored three runs in the first inning as Kinsley Adams drilled a RBI-double and Lauren Rowell singled home Angela Sims.

    Mike Webb’s RBI-triple proved to be the winning hit as Indian Land topped Andrew Jackson, 5-4 in Region IV-AA baseball on Tuesday, April 22.

    Johnny Roscoe’s coaching retirement didn’t last long.

    Roscoe, who retired from coaching just over a year ago, is returning to coaching in familiar territory.

  • Lady Bruins blank IL girls in soccer win

     

    The Lancaster Lady Bruins soccer team notched their second win over Class AA county rival Indian Land High School this season with a 4-0 victory over the Lady Warriors on Monday, April 21.

    Lancaster and Indian Land split a pair of matches in the Lugoff-Elgin Preseason tournament earlier this season.
