GILBERT – Indian Land’s quest to produce a first-ever state championship fell short in a emotional 3-2 loss to Gilbert High School on Wednesday at the GHS Stadium.

Indian Land High School junior sprinter Rondreas Truesdale realized a season-long goal with a golden moment Saturday at the Class AA state track meet at Spring Valley High School in Pontiac.

Heavy rain and lightning in the Gilbert area forced GHS officials to cancel the Indian Land vs. Gilbert Class AA Upper State

soccer match on Tuesday.

The match was reset for today with a 6 p.m. kickoff.

Indian Land, seeded No. 2 in the AA Upstate, advanced to the AA Upstate title match with a 3-1 comeback win over Emerald High of Greenwood on Saturday. Gilbert, seeded No. 1 in the Class AA Upstate poll, advanced with a 4-2 win over Batesburg-Leesville.

The Indian Land Warriors’ soccer strategy worked like a charm.

IL, 19-4, bolted to a 3-0 halftime lead on the way to a 3-2 win over Broome on Thursday night.
