  • Lady Bruins key North in all-star game win

    Coach Ronnie Robinson said he was proud of the Lady Bruins’ effort in the annual North-South All-Star basketball game at Lexington High School on Saturday.
    Robinson, an assistant coach on the North team, saw the Upstate stars take a 78-65 win over the South.
    Lancaster High Lady Bruins’ senior stars Malia Rivers and Keyotta Garris played on the winning North team. Rivers hit four points in the 13-point victory.
    “I thought Malia and Keyotta played well and represented us with solid play,” Robinson said.

  • Bruins net 2-1 soccer region road win over SPHS Stallions

    The Lancaster High School boys soccer team posted its first win over South Pointe since the 2011 campaign, taking a 1-0 win over the host Stallions.
    Bruins’ freshman Christian Diaz, off a Tyler Deese assist on a free kick, tallied the lone goal of the match.
    LHS keeper Ben Rivers posted the shutout.
    Lancaster improved to 5-4, 4-0 in region play.
    Lancaster visits Clinton to face the Red Devils tonight.
    Vols fall to Cycs
    Andrew Jackson, on March 9, traveled over to Chester and brought back a 3-1 win.

  • Bruins seek to rebound on diamond

    Lancaster dipped to 7-3, 3-2 in region play, after dropping a 4-0 road baseball loss to Broome High School in Spartanburg on Tuesday night.
    The Centurions snapped a scoreless draw in the fifth inning with three runs and added a single score in the sixth inning for the shutout win over Lancaster.
    Bruins’ senior Neil Taylor, in five frames, allowed two hits, three runs, one earned run, and four walks. Taylor tallied five strikeouts.
    Chris Sinclair hurled a third of an inning and yielded a run on two walks.

  • AJ golfers stay unbeaten

    The Andrew Jackson High School golf team pushed its links mark to 19-0 on the season, sweeping a tri-match at the Timberlake Country Club in Chapin on Tuesday afternoon.
    The Vols posted a 159 with host Chapin at 175 and Cardinal Newman at 194.
    AJ senior ace Logan Sowell, a College of Charleston golf signee, shot a one-under 34 to take medalist honors on the par-35 golf course.
    Emily Cox posted a 39 and Chandler Norville had a 41. Caleb Brown, headed to Spartanburg Methodist College to play for the Pioneers next season, rounded out the AJ scores with a 45.

  • Bruins host Vols in lift-a-thon

    The Lancaster High School football team will hold its second annual lift-a-thon on April 2 when LHS hosts Andrew Jackson High at 10 a.m. in the Bruins gym.
    The competition will include bench press.
    “Our off-season workouts have gone well and we’re pleased with the progress,” LHS coach Bobby Collins said. “Our players have put in the time and worked hard since our 2015 season ended.

  • Lady Warriors blank Vols for soccer victory

    The Indian Land Lady Warriors soccer team improved to 12-1 on the season with a 7-0 Region IV-AA home win over the Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers on Monday night.
    The Lady Warriors held a 5-0 lead at the half on the way to the victory.
    Nia Pressley tallied two goals, while Reagan Hunter, Abby Myers, C.C. Thompson, Kailee Erwin and Kelsey Long each scored for the IL girls.
    Myers, Long and Thompson each had an assist for IL, which outshot AJ, 25-0.
    Emma Thompson notched the shutout.

  • AJ unbeaten with golf wins over CHS, L-E

    The Andrew Jackson High golf team stayed perfect on the season – 17-0 – with a pair of wins at the Camden Country Club on Monday.
    The Volunteers, 6-0 in region play, shot a 149 to down Class AAA foe Camden (171) and Class AAAA Lugoff-Elgin (223).
    Logan Sowell, the AJ senior ace, shot a 33 on the par-35 course. Sowell was followed by Chandler Norville with a 37, Caleb Brown’s 39 and Emily Cox with a 40.
    Mason Sowell had a 41 and Dakota Roberts carded a 50.

  • Jackets rally to edge Warriors, 5-3

    Buford rallied from a 3-2 deficit to post a 5-3 comeback win over Region IV-AA rival Indian Land at the Warriors’ baseball field on Monday night.
    The Jackets, 6-4, 5-1, ignited for three runs to take the two-run win in the BHS sixth.
    Dylan Sistare’s RBI-hit tied the game at 3-all and the Jackets added two more runs as Scotti Moser scored on an error and Brady Horton singled home a run.
    BHS hurler Eric Miles, 3-0, was the winner in seven frames as he struck out 15.

  • County quartet set for North-South games

    A trio of Lancaster County high school star basketball players will cap their prep hoops careers in the 68th annual North-South All-Star basketball games at Lexington High School on Saturday afternoon.
    The girls game is at 1 p.m., with the boys game to tip at 3.
    Lancaster High Lady Bruins’ senior aces Malia Rivers and Keyotta Garris will play for the North girls team.
    Indian Land Quantra Taylor, a 6-8, 240-pounder who has signed to play at Wingate University, will play for the North boys.

  • Lady Bruins down CHS Devils

    Lancaster upped its region mark to 2-1 with a 7-4 home win over Clinton High School on Tuesday night at the LHS softball field.
    Gracie Revels led the Lancaster attack with three hits and scored a run. Tomeshiona Jackson rapped two hits and had three RBIs. Summer Clinton supplied two hits, two RBIs and scored twice.
    Jada Ames had a hit, RBI, scored two runs and a sacrifice fly.
    Alexus Lowery drilled a hit, scored a run and drew a walk.
    Winning pitcher Ariana Ealy had a hit and tallied a run to boost LHS.
