    The Indian Land High School girls cross country team placed eighth in the Class AA state meet Saturday, Nov. 3, at Sandhills Research Center in Columbia. The IL boys team came in 14th.

    The Lancaster High School Lady Bruins finished 14th overall at the Class AAAA state meet at the Sandhills Research Center on Saturday, Nov. 3.

  • Chesnee halts AJ girls volleyball run

    KERSHAW – The Andrew Jackson High volleyball team's stellar postseason run was halted by a familiar foe Thursday night in the AJ gym.

    Chesnee, which ended the Lady Vols' playoff run last season, repeated the court feat with a 3-0 sweep in the Class AA Upper State championship match.

    The 26-5 Lady Eagles, with solid court coverage, stopped the AJ playoff charge, which included three straight home sweeps of Pelion, Indian Land and Chesterfield.

  • Tri-County honors four county players

    RICHBURG – Four Lancaster County high school football players were honored at the weekly meeting of the Founders Federal Tri-County Football Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon.

    Lancaster High School players Kaderrious Jackson and Quinshun Evans were saluted for their play, along with Indian Land High School’s Curtis Groll and Jimmy Locklear.

    Jackson, the LHS senior quarterback, was named the Division I Offensive Player of the Week for his play in the Bruins’ home loss to Rock Hill at Memorial Stadium.

    From Lancaster, take U.S. 521 North to S.C. 5 West just below Andrew Jackson State Park. Follow S.C. 5 West into Rock Hill to U.S. 21. Turn left and follow to State Road 250 and turn right. Follow State Road 250 to Neely Road and turn left and follow Neely Road to South Pointe High School. Stadium is on campus. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

    Quinshun Evans had 14 tackles, which included two unassisted hits, five first hits and seven assists. David Hilton had a solid game for the Bruins with nine tackles, one unassisted, four first hits and three assists, a sack and a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown.

  • County teams focus on playoffs, pride

    Playoffs and pride are the focal points in week 11 play for Lancaster County high school football teams.
    Buford, Andrew Jackson and Indian Land are looking to the upcoming Class AA Upper State playoffs.
    Lancaster High School, out of the playoff picture in Class AAAA, is playing for pride this week.

    In games this week, Lancaster caps its 2012 season with a Region III-AAAA road game at South Pointe High School of Rock Hill.

    Buford, with a first-round bye in the Class AA Upper State Div. II playoffs as the third seed, is idle this Friday.
