Two Lancaster County prep football coaches are predicting a New England Patriots’ win in Super XLIX tonight.
The Patriots, the American Football League champions, are the pick of Lancaster High School head coach Bobby Collins and Tripp Watts, the Buford High School football coach.
The S.C. High School League handed down player suspensions for a fight during the Andrew Jackson-Indian Land junior varsity boys basketball game at Indian Land High School on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
The SCHSL officials made the suspensions after reviewing the game tape last week.
PAGELAND – Indian Land used second-half surges to post a Region IV-AA basketball sweep of Central High of Pageland on Friday, Jan. 30.
The IL boys, 12-4, 7-2, rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to down the Eagles after the Lady Warriors surged in the second half to notch the win.
CHERAW – The Buford High girls basketball team rallied in the second half to take a 47-44 win and earn a Region IV-AA hoops split with host Cheraw High School on Friday, Jan. 30.
The nightcap saw the Braves remain unbeaten in Region IV-AA boys play with a 77-40 win over the Jackets.
CHESTER – Lancaster, with solid play, notched a Region III-AAA basketball sweep at Chester High School on Friday, January 30.
The No. 1 Lady Bruins picked up their play in the second half and rolled to a region win over the CHS girls to open the sweep.
The Indian Land Warriors swept a Region IV-AA road game with Chesterfield on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The IL Lady Warriors rolled to a 43-26 win over the Lady Rams in the varsity opener.
The Buford boys snapped their five-game skid in a big way to complete a Region IV-AA hardwood sweep of North Central on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The Jackets built an early lead and stayed in control for the 56-35 win over the Knights.
The Indian Land High School wrestlers went 2-2 in a pair of recent matches.
IL, in a three-way match at Central of Pageland on Tuesday, Jan. 20, defeated Buford and host Central.
In the win over BHS, the Warriors prevailed, 39-21.
The Lancaster Bruins swept Region III-AAA foe Broome again.
Lancaster, which swept Broome on Jan. 9 in the Bruins Den, went on the road and took two from the host Centurions.
KERSHAW – Andrew Jackson swept Central for the second time this season at AJ on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
AJ, in each game, finished strong to post the hoops sweep.
